Can anyone help me find arrival of Thomas Keogh and son Patrick in Australia? I have a marriage certificate for Patrick Keogh and Margaret Miller in 1877 in Sydney. I have a notice from The Sydney Morning Herald for that marriage stating Patrick was the second son of Thomas from Melbourne. I have death certificate for Patrick 1904 stating father Thomas and mother Mary Kenane. From this it appears Patrick was from Tipperary and arrived in Australia about 1863 possibly on the Marco Polo but that doesn't tie in with his father living in Melbourne. Patrick's death certificate states 10 years in Victoria and 31 years in NSW. Can't find the connection or arrival of Thomas.

Hi Jenny,
Not all immigration records have survived and not all passengers are listed by name. I don't see any shipping arrivals that fit this family group, but they may not have arrived together. I would be more inclined to follow up Thomas. There are a number of wills on the PROV site, so perhaps you can have a look through them to see if there are any connections.

I do see a few Thomas KEOGH deaths after 1877 in Victoria, so perhaps making a list and cross referencing them with newspaper notices and burial records might also turn something up.

Hello,
I have looked through the VIC Index. There is no death for a Mary { KENANE} KEOGH or any deaths of children with Thomas and Mary listed as parents :(

Thanks for helping. Patrick's death was in NSW number 8489 on 22nd July 1904. Maybe his parents didn't come to Australia??? although newspaper notice indicates they did.

Your information about Patrick's father is from SMH marriage notice.
Do the details on the marriage certificate support that name for father?.
I can see a notice SMH 3 Jan 1878 for marriage the previous year - 28 Nov St Augustine's Balmain - Patrick Keogh to Margaret Agnes Miller.
I am not seeing a notice with the details about father Thomas in Melbourne.
Can you locate that for me please?.

There is a notice SMH on Wednesday 2nd January 1878 refering to father Thomas. There was also a notice Thursday 3rd January which doesn't mention the father.
