If there is any chance of a digital copy of the following, I'd be grateful:

AAOM  6029   744 /   50778

BRIDGE Leonore Adele St Joh 1947 - 1947
AAOM  6031   13 /   1230/47

BRIDGE Cyprian Everard 1951 - 1951

A distant sideline has thrown up rather a lot of NZ Probates ::)

Thanks

Hi Annie.

I did your ITM lookup for Susan Anne and William Thomas Humphrey. ( although she is listed as susanna on BDM online.. )

It was filed on the 21 February 1879,  he was a 23yr old bachelor and a labourer and she was a 19 yr old spinster and a servant.  They lived in Picton and at the time of filing, he had only lived there 4 days and she had been there 1 month, there were married at the Picton registry office, their folio number for their marriage certificate is 79/330  ( could be 320 ) and they married on the 12 March 1879.

Im wondering if she remarried a Henry Sykes? there is a Susan Ann Woodgate marrying in 1906 to a Henry Sykes. ( Bdm online )

Cheers
Tish

Tish...thank you so so much.  Really appreciate your help.  You are right, Susan Ann did marry Henry Sykes, but before that she also had a nineteen year relationship with Wm Travers Paul......not marrying him because Wm Humphrey was still alive.  She had walked out on Hmphrey and took the children with her because he was was handy with his fists....then she took him to court!  Brave lady....however it didn't stop there; she took him back to court when he failed to maintain the family.

Thank you again, kind regards, Annie

Its okay to keep adding to this thread, i will check them off as time permits, if you are in a uber hurry for them might be best to start a new thread, but i usually have a 1-2 week "turn around " lol, im heading there again next week to get some for myself, so might tack an extra hour on the end and clear up those waiting, having said that, i have some here that i did today :D LOL  cheers.

ps.  for anyone posting future posts for requests, could you please post them like this

JOHN DOE
*archives link*

JANE DOE
*archives link*

It makes it less time consuming for, this way its a matter of click, order, print.  Rather than having to type in the information and search.  Also when the names are not inlcuded in the orginal post it makes it hard to 'find the owner' when i have it ready for emailing, especially if there is more than one post by the same person....thankies much.

Look up please:

I would like to look up the ITM for:

Elizabeth Bowis (shown as Bowie on BDM list) and Thomas Law.  Marriage is shown as being in 1866.  This should be in Christchurch NZ.  Lucy2 on here said that Thomas LAW has been indexed (1866) with two brides (Folio # 1018). The correct bride is Elizabeth.  I think that the date of marriage 13 February 1866.  On their son's birth cert it is given as 13 Feb 1865 but on BDM listing the marriage was 1866 so clearly the wrong year was put on the birth cert.

I hope having the actual date makes it easier :)

Thanks in advance.

im not sure when ill get time to do this, this week is looking pretty full already and im possibly not going to get time to search for any new ITMs until mid to late July...Archives arent so bad because i can order them and they are waiting for me when i get there...ITMs are a bit different as i have to go there, search the list and then search the microfiche roll for the information, this can take up to an hour alone, to do itms in addition to the archives i go there for a need a good 2-3 hour block rather than the 30min-45min window i have....I am happy to add it to my notebook, but i cant promise this will be done anytime soon....

Hi - thanks for that.  I really didn't know what was involved.  Perhaps I will get the marriage certificate - I wonder if that will have much information or do I need the ITM?  Can I order an ITM myself or do I need to actually go there (which I can't of course).

Seriously don't worry, I appreciate all the help on here anyway.

Hi ya :)

ITMs dont usually provide much information IMO, the place of marriage, how long in that district ( not how long in NZ ) age of bride and groom and from memory, thats about it....

Marriage certificates are generally HEAPS better...because you get their birthplace and parents names.

Im heading there tomorrow, ill see how i go for time :)

Really?  Where can you see this?  I suppose anything is possible.  Could it just be a clerical error, I don't know how these things are done.  He did call one of his children Margaret.  I am thinking that he was in Victoria before coming to NZ (goldmining).  No proof yet, just a feeling.

I am stuck on the fact that I can't go back any further than his marriage in 1866!!   ???

I have never looked but Trade Me has a very large community and there may be someone from Dunedin on this board.  Surely someone down there knows how to get archives.  Worth a try (unless this has been tried already).

ITM for RIDDING and BLACK done today a

he was a 24 yr old Bacherlor and she was a 23 yr old spinster, his occupation was VERY hard to read, we all struggled with it :( but we THINK and thats a very very very big THINK, a saddle-maker mangager lol or something that effect....def was a SADD it was a long word, and then a esperate word underneath was manager or mayor or something M ...i have a black on white print out but its pretty scummy...are you in NZ? i can post it, otherwise ill find someone to scan it for you....he lived in wakefield st (? i couldnt see this, but two others read it as this ) duration at dwelling 12 months, she lived in Wellington Street ( again i couldnt see this but two others did ) and her duration at the dwelling was 3 months.
Intended place of marriage: the dwelling place of John K? ( his name was IMPOSSIBLE to make out, perhaps, KERR, KUME, HUME? something along those lines, perhaps you will have an idea.....John was a builder though. lol.  ITM filed 11 December 1861, marriage date would be 3 months from that date....

and also

Jericho, i managed to squeezie in GLOVER, Frederica Josephine

I have your email addy on hand, so will send that through when i come back from picking up my car from the mechanic ( :(  )

Tish, I was going through the list of New Zealanders in my family tree and was struck by how many are there solely because of your efforts, both direct and indirect.  By my count, the number is twelve, which includes the seven I found early on from just one of your Wellington Archive lookups.  In addition, I have learned of three living relatives in NZ.  And, just as important, your information helped eliminate at least two people who I thought were candidates for my tree!

So, a very big thank you from across the ocean!  ;D

Hi Lou, you wont get much more information than you already have, maybe the duration they had been in the town where they were getting married ( not duration in NZ ) and person who gives consent if under legal age....

Did you still want me to go ahead and search these for you....

Hey guys.

just an update from me.  i no longer visit Wellington on a weekly basis.  I live 30 mins ( on a good day ) away from Wellington.  while i dont mind building up a bunch of requests and going when im passing, its unfair to make people wait that long.  So from now on i wont be doing anymore requests .  i will do the ones outstanding, which are:

Coroners record for LANGVAD, Patrick
Probate for WATERS, Annie
and War record for FREAN, Alfred

If there are any other requests that are in addition to these, please speak now or forever hold your piece.  i will be going to archives on Weds 14th Sept ( NZ time ). This will be my last visit and i will stay 2 hours.  i can take another 3 requests for war records and another 8 probates. MAX.

Its been lovely being able to help you guys out.  I have really enjoyed it.  Sorry some of you have waited so long.

Hello Tish...

This may come under the "etc" you mentioned. If you can't do it it's not a problem.

Could I have a photograph/details of "Certificate of Competency no.396 - Master Ordinary" issued to Edward PETERSON in Dunedin on 24 Sept 1884

http://archway.archives.govt.nz/ViewFullItem.do?code=14557082
Certificates of Competency - Master - Ordinary   1882 - 1885

If it's not in the volume I've linked to don't bother hunting for it. I'll leave it for another day :-)

Thanks very much

Hey twiggytree.

there was no J48/21, i searched the indexs and looked up the index for the year 1948

There was nothing that i saw listed under L

Are you certain of the year of death and spelling of the last name??

Linda_J reminded me to look for the digitisation I previously requested and it is there - thanks Tish.

Have another request, in the Coroners Records this time

So the index is J 48/21 in the Registers Room

The year is 1948

The name is Patrick Ernest LANGVAD

DOD 23 August 1948

So the file request will be something like J 46 1948/##
