James DICKSON native of Glenbervie, farmer circa 1748.
This information from his grandsons baptism in Newcastle upon Tyne 1800.
How can I find out more about James?

Don't know if it's any help but Scotlands People website has one James Dickson born in Kincardineshire in 1741 and a marriage for a James Dickson in Glenbervie on 1 May 1773. If you register with the site and purchase some credits you will be able to view images of these events as recorded in the Old Parish Registers. These may not be your man but may be related.

I'm a descendant of a John Dixon and Isobel Whyte who married in Glenbervie 28 April 1832. Their surname can be Dickson or Dixon, though at the time the minister got it wrong and gave the surname as Diggans. i suspect he could be the son of John Dickson and his wife Margaret Young. Our John is not listed in the OPR, but at the time the minister of Glenbervie died in 1815 and a new minister took over. John might have been christened just before the minister died and might not have been added to the OPR before the minister died.

Isabella Dickson or Whyte died in Brechin in 1891, aged 80.
1871 Census is St Cyrus: John Dixon, 61, born Fetteresso; wife Isabella, 61, born St Cyrus; son Daid, 16, born Arbroath; granddaughter Helen, 9, born Brechin.
In 1861 they were also in St Cyrus: John, 50; Isabella, 52, son John, 24, David, 16 and granddaughter Helen, under 1 year.
By 1881 John had died and Isabella is described as a pauper.
This means (a) that there should be a death certificate for John which should tell you the names of his parents including his mother's maiden surname and (b) there may be some information in the parochial board (Poor Law) records of St Cyrus if they have survived.
Have a look at the original census and at Isabella's death certificate at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, and check Aberdeen Archives to see if the St Cyrus parochial board records have survived.
It's not immediately obvious which of the 5 deaths of John Dicksons born 1810 plus or minus two years is your one, but Tannadice is the closest geographically. On the other hand it's inland, and he was a fisherman. In which case the one in Dunbar might be him, that being the only seaside place in the list.

Thank you. Ive already got the death certificate but the informant the son was not very good at remembering his grandparents. He is only able to give their surnames of Dickson and Morrison, And i suspect the Morrison is the name of one of the informants wife’s relatives.
When John died from injuries he received at his place of work, his wife applied for help burying him. The Poor Inspector for St Cyrus turned him down claiming he was originally from Laurencekirk. Ive not found any references to how he came by this. According to John himself in every census from 1851-1871 he clams he was from St Cyrus,but I cant find any John that fits with his details in St Cyrus. His marriage is listed twice once where he has been given the surname Diggans and said to be of the parish of Glenbervie, the other entry in his wife’s parish has him correctly puts as Dickson of the parish of Glenbervie. Check of Dickson in Laurencekirk proved the John theire died unmarried on a different date of death, Glenbervie has a family that fit but no John listed as theirs though the time of his birth coincides with the death of one minister and the arrival later of another so some baptisms might have not been recorded by accident. If it is that Glenbervie family, then his parents married in Wilton, Roxburgh According to the two marriage procaimations, his father comes from Hebden of the South of Britain. Hence my curiosity on the post that includes two Dickson men from England whose grandfather is said to be from Glenbervie.
