could anyone look for a marriage record in mexborough for me please, i am trying to find details of the marriage between Herbert Revell and Harriet Banks June qtr 1921 St John the Baptist Church Mexborough. It appears that neither of them come from Mexborough but somehow this is where they married, i can find all the information i need for Herbert Revell but nothing about Harriet and where she comes from, her parents etc
If anyone can help i would be very grateful

Hi and welcome to Rootschat
I can't help with the lookup but the marriage cert will not tell you where she was born. It will give her fathers name and occupation and her age at that time. The witnesses names may also provide some info/clues
If she is the Harriet Revell who died in Yorkshire in November 1987 - her full DoB is 26.11.1902 but there is no birth reg in the December qtr 1902 or the March qtr 1903 for her and no trace on the free 1911 index
I checked Scotlands People in case she was born in Scotland. There is no match for a Harriet Banks in 1902 but there are 2 matches for a female H Banks
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk =- this is a pay per view website

If Herbert and Harriet are the Revell/Banks couple having children in Suffolk from 1922-1931, is Harriet perhaps the Harriet Revell who died in Ipswich in 1933 aged 35?
If she is, she may be Harriet Banks born in Rotherham district September Q 1897. There don't seem to be any other Harriet Banks born 1897/8, apart from Harriet Ann in Burnley March Q 1898.

thankyou for the replies, Harriet Banks married Herbert Revell he was from suffolk and they lived their married lives and had their children in Suffolk, it is possible that she died in 1933 as this would tie in with the date that one of her children was put into care. If there is anymore infomation anyone has i would love to hear it

The 1921 marriage cert is your only real starting point as it will confirm her age at that time and (hopefully) show a fathers name
There is no 1901 or 1911 entry for a Harriet Banks b 1898 +-2yrs in Rotherham but the Rotherham Registration district covered a large area - see link below

Hi
Just in case you haven't obtained the marriage certificate I checked the Mexborough marriages (on fiche) today and found the following:
9 May 1921 Herbert John Revell aged 21 occ carter, son of Herbert Charles Revell occ chimney sweep, married Harriet Banks aged 23 daughter of Albion Banks, occ general labourer. The address for both was 47 Garden St., Mexborough.
The witnesses were Rosetta Banks and ?Albion (difficult to read) Frederick Banks.
Hope that helps.
