Title: Albert Ebenezer Parker
Post by: carrumba on Monday 16 May 11 19:55 BST (UK)
Hey all.

At long last I have a lead on my mother's side of the family, well, sort of.

My great aunt (sister of mother's mother) died a while ago but I have managed to get a copy of her marriage certificate to Ron Luckett.  Violet's parentage is a little uncertain though I have found a birth entry in the Midlands for Violet Parker, mother's surname "Taylor".  Violet had the middle name "Ellen" so perhaps mother was Ellen taylor... unsure.  Both my grandmother and Violet shared the surname Parker when they married but Violet was 13 years older than my grandmother.  Anyway, i digress.

My grandmother told my mother that her and Violet's father died when she was young however, on the marriage certificate for Violet and Ron (1956), Violet's father is not listed as deceased like Ron's.  His name is given as Albert Ebenezer Parker, occupation Lorry Driver.  Something isn't ringing true somewhere but unfortunately, I am working with scraps.  Violet was born in 1924 and my grandmother was born in 1937.

With the middle name of "Ebenezer" I thought he would be easy to find but has evaded me so far.  The only vague hits I have found so far are:

A.E Parker burial 1956 Wiltshire
Albert Ebenezer Parker, Birth, Jan-Feb-Mar 1899, Aston, Warwickshire

Whole family were/are Midlands based around Birmingham/Coventry

Any help appreciated!   ;D

Hey, thanks for the swift reply!

Well, that would certainly fit with Violet Ellen (daughter of Violet Ellen Taylor) taking on the Parker name and fits with the birth entry for Violet Ellen's mother having the surname Taylor.  Most excellent.  Was that in the Free BMD?  How irritating to miss it!  It's also why I love Rootschat!  Thanks so much for your time. :-)

A year on (almost) from my first post and I have managed to trace Violet Ellen Taylors line back to the 1850's, so far.  (Brass polishers and brick makers!)

Albert Ebeneezer Parker, however, is being a little more elusive.  Next step is to order his marriage certificate to try and get some parent details however, I thought I'd give this forum another dunt to see if anyone has any leads for me to consider :-)

Thanks all!

Hi there.

Violet Ellen Taylor/Parker was my mother. Your Grandmother Alice is my Aunt. I too have been looking into Albert Parkers past and have still yet to find anything that helps go further back along his line. With regards to Tralee, I actually live 15 miles from there so will look out for the hall. The Order you speak of is mainly in the US now to the best of my knowledge. Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards Ray.
P.S. Who is your mother?
