I am researching a Jones family Carno Mont. In 1871 they were living at a house called 'Alltfrondddu' in the civil parish of Llysin. John was the head of household who was born in 1796, wife was Sarah born 1807. There were sons Tos 35, John 34 and Wm 32. John was a farmer holding 246 acres.
If you could find info in the subsequent censii I should be grateful.

Hi Alison
Firstly, Welcome to Rootschat. I do hope that you find this site helpful with your family research.
I am able to look up the Jones family for you but could you let me have the places of birth for John, Sarah, and the 3 sons. There are so many Jones with the correct names, and in the correct age range.
Aah, such a common Welsh name!!!!!!

Hello Jan, thanks for your welcome and help. Here is the transcript from the 71 census.
First of all I wrongly called the head of the household John when his name is Richard!
Richard head 75
Sarah wife 64
John son 34
William son 32
Edward John 14 son
Thomas son 35
Sarah Humphries servant 11
Rowland Williams servant 16 all born in Carno
Thankyou Alison

Hi Alison
Thanks for that!!!!
In 1851 they are still living in Carno at Allt-Bronddu
HO107/2496, folio 406, page 4
Richard Head 55 farmer of 160 acres
Sarah wife 45
Edward son 22
Richard son 19
John son 16
William son 13
Evan son 10
Thomas son 6
also with them was a Mary Jones age 90, described as a farmer's widow. Her relationship to Richard is "SM" - could be step-mother.
and 1 servant Hannah Morgan 16.
In 1861 they are still there!!! RG9/4247, folio 45, page 11
Richard Head 66, farmer of 140 acres
Sarah Wife 53
John son 25
William son 23
and two servants, David Evans 13, Anne Breese 17
I'm just going to see if I can find Edward, Richard (Jnr), Evan and Thomas in 1861.

??? ??? ??? The sons are hard to find but I do have a possibility for Evan, who would have been about 20 in 1861.
RG9/4247, folio 22, page 7 - At Bronhaul, Carno
Evan Jones, 19 year old Servant. Born in Carno
(He is a servant for yet another JONES family!!)
I have been looking at your 1871 listing for the family and see there is a 14 year old Edward John, Son ??? There is a very large gap between him and the other siblings, so I was wondering whether he was in fact a grandson. Just a thought.
I will keep on looking for the other missing brothers ;)

Hello Jan, thanks for your efforts I see what you mean about Edward John Jones but I assumed he was an afterthought.

HI Alison
Hope you don't mind but I have looked at the image of 1871 and the 14 year old Edward Jones is a Servant. It just says "Do" (ditto) to copy the entry above it - Serv
We can ignore him!!!!
Just noticed also that Thomas Jones is in fact 25 and not 35 - No wonder I couldn't sort him out LOL LOL

Thanks Jan for all your trouble. As you have undoubtedly guessed I am a novice, but getting better - thanks again!

Interested that your family were at this property. My ancestors - John Meredith and Anne Meredith (formerly Howells) put Allt-Bronddu as their place of residence when registering their chidren. One child Abraham Jones Meredith (reg birth 1818 at Peniel Chapel Carno) dropped the Meredith later in life and kept the Jones. Interestlingly on his marraige certificate (Abraham and Elizabeth Jones - formerly Benbow) there is a witness - Richard Jones. I wonder if it is the same Richard Jones in your family? Do you have any information that may confirm they might have know each other?
