Title: Lyons family in Killyclogher, Tyrone
Post by: S Lyons on Sunday 15 May 11 17:22 BST (UK)
Robert Lyons (abt 1776- 17 Feb 1852) and Margaret Frances Black (abt 1787- 11 May 1856) in Killyclougher near Omagh had 7 children:

Mary Ann
Robert (15 Mar 1809 - 18 Oct 1890)
Margaret
Jane
Matilda
Rachel
Thomas (perhaps married Martha Moorhead and had a child Mary Jane [1850-26 Apr 1854])

How can I go about finding dates for this family?  Any help would be appreciated.

From PRONI website-
"Administration of the Estate of Thomas Lyons late of Killyclogher Omagh County Tyrone Farmer who died 27 March 1914 at Meenadoo Gortin granted at Londonderry to James Lyons Farmer"
http://applications.proni.gov.uk/DCAL_PRONI_WillsCalendar/WillsSearch.aspx

Death registration gives age as 52 so born c1852.

Here's Thomas in 1911 census-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tyrone/Killyclogher/Killyclogher/874442
Although the age isn't consistant this might be the same Thomas Lyons in 1901-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tyrone/Killyclogher/Killyclogher/1745901

Using a combination of PRONI Wills, civil registration index and census records you might be able to find more Lyons details that connect to your family.

Hi
Robert Lyons was born on 21 Aug 1874 and baptised
Ancestors of Mary LYONS
on 2 Sep 1874 to parents William Lyons & Eliza Clarke

Do these names mean anything to you.  Also Mary Moorehead married Victor Love?

Kind regards

Maggie

I have been looking through the PRONI wills.  Only a few have images.  I would especially like to see a copy of Thomas Lyons' will which aghadowey told me about.  How does one get a copy?

Do you mean this?
From PRONI website-
"Administration of the Estate of Thomas Lyons late of Killyclogher Omagh County Tyrone Farmer who died 27 March 1914 at Meenadoo Gortin granted at Londonderry to James Lyons Farmer"
http://applications.proni.gov.uk/DCAL_PRONI_WillsCalendar/WillsSearch.aspx

There is no Will- Thomas died intestate (without a Will) and what PRONI will have is the paperwork to do with settling his estate. There will likely be mostly forms giving a valuation, etc.

Hello ouismes,

Welcome to RootsChat.

I am very sorry but your reply to S Lyons has sadly bounced back to us as it looks like they have changed their email address. I have not been able to find an alternative way of contacting this member for you.

Old members do log back in, I do hope that this will be the case here.

Regards
