Title: John Basil Brady

Am I in the right place? Could anyone help please?  Trying to confirm a Birth in Limerick/Dublin for John Basil Brady born circa 1883. Father Ronald , may have been a Jeweller, mother unknown.
John later changed his name when he left home.

The civil registration index is online (free) and covers births from 1864- there's no John Basil or Basil listed (and no John B. Bradys born near the date you gave).
I also checked the index for 'Ronald Brady' but only 2 entries appear (both recent' births 1932 + 1948)- no deaths (from 1864 onwards).

The name Ronald sounds more Scottish than Irish.

I also checked 1901 and 1911 census for 'Ronald Brady', 'John Basil', Basil' but there was nothing even close.

Thanks for all that.  I'm making these enquiries on behalf of a friend without web access and have been given these details.  I also am unsuccessful in finding anything close, even with mis-spellings.  Thought that it might have been worth a try though.
