Anyone connected to McLernon of Ballymacateer Magheralin?
The name is noted in Griffiths Valuation, and 1901/11 Ireland Census.
I have been able to identify one definite connection to my family in 1901 Census - Margaret McLernon,(Mc Lerrnon on census) aged 50,spinster, living with nephew Patrick (Husband's grandfather), Ballymacateer. Margaret's father was John McLernon and her mother Ellen Creaney (Aghagallon).
The other names I'm trying to connect to are;
Matthew McLernon who married a Hannah Rooney in Magheralin RC Church in 1830
Thomas McLernon who married Sarah Miles possibly in Magheralin RC Church-known children are Matthew b1837 and a daughter
Anne b 1840-both in Magheralin and
Matthew McILernon (transcribed as McHernon from census) married to Ellen Kennedy-daughter Anne/Annie b 1868 married someone Mullen-(1901 Census)

Hi Dol98
Am still here😊
Yes still interested in the Ballymacateer McLernons so any information you have would be much appreciated, thank you.

Hi there
My great great grandmother was Jane, daughter of Thomas and Sarah. The family line of her brother Matthew who married Elleanor has been well documented by a family member living in Canada. Besides Matthew Jane had brothers John, William and Charles and sisters Anne , Sarah, Margaret and Susanne.
I don’t see a Patrick in the tree but you might be able to provide that link.
I can give you further info but don’t want to overwhelm the picture.

Hi Dol98,
Thank you so much for the info. I’ll have a look tomorrow through my notes on the McLernons and see if I can make any further connections. I don’t have a Thomas as sibling to John, Margarets father, but it is possible as records are so limited for the Aghagallon area pre 1828
The dob I have for Margaret is 1843 and baptised in Aghagallon. Hopefully will get back to you in the next day or two.
Thanks again

Hi Sio59
No problem. At one point I wondered if the Margaret on the census was the daughter of Thomas born 1852 Ballymacateer and baptised in Magheralin in Sept 1852,as the 1901 census ( with Patrick ) does give her birth county as Down and not Antrim as Aghagallon would be. I am not sure how reliable this part the census is however.
You probably have a lot more info so I am not sure if this helps but good luck.
