In researching my ancestry I am having difficulty following two individuals -- their place of birth, ancestors, etc.
Joseph W. Brown married Lucy A. Brown in Madelay, Salop in 1Q 1925. The Browns enter my genealogy several times but I have no idea where Joseph came from.
Thomas Brown born abt. 1867, d 1Q 1900 in Middlesex, married Frances Sarah Summers in 4Q 1894 at Burton-upon-Trent, Staff. I also do not know Thomas Brown's previous history.
If you can help with these, I would be most appreciative. It is somewhat difficult to trace some information from Canada.

Hi
You don't have Joseph and Lucy's marriage certificate? you have given 1925 married is that correct? Where did joseph end up did he emigrate to Canada?
cheers cardiff ???
-
That's right. That will be my next approach if I can't get ancestry info without the marriage certificate. We visited Joe and Lucy in 1953 in Dawley, Salop. I believe their daughter, Marjorie, married Donald Summers, son of Frederick Summers in the early 1950's.
-
Hi
Do you know when Joe was born or how old he was when he died?
cheers cardiff ???
-
No, I don't. I'll likely need to start off by buying the marriage certificate. By posting on Roots, I am hoping that some of the Brown/Summers descendants might respond as current (20th century) info is hard to get without personal contacts.
Thanks, Canada529

A good way to make surname connections with other members is to enter your surname interests
in the Surname Interests Table (SIT), and to check there whether others are researching these names.
This can be found at http://surname.rootschat.com/ , there is a link to it at the top of each Rootschat page.
(http://www.rootschat.com/forum/Themes/history/images/english/surnames.gif) (http://surname.rootschat.com/)
The more people who enter their surnames, the more chance there will be of making a connection!

There's a Joseph William Brown, b 1898 in Shropshire, living in Madeley in the 1901 census. Father - Joseph, father's occupation - butcher. RG13/2524/99/38.
If you get the marriage certificate, you should be able to confirm whether this is your man.

I have a sarah brown, from that area that married edward millward. she died in quatford.
sarah B:1800,D: 1866.
Let me know if it is the same family

I don't know. I have not been able to trace the "Brown connection" to my own tree back that far as yet.

Hi
So what year are you on? Don't give info on the site of any living person. So what info do you have?
cheers cardiff :)

My maternal grandmother was Lucy Annie Summers. The Summers and Brown lines intersect on a number of occasions. Her sister, Frances Summers married Thomas Brown (b. 1869 Wellington, Shropshire). He was the son of William Lester Brown and Mary. One of Thomas' and Frances' daughters, Lucy Brown married Joseph William Brown (son of Joseph Brown b. 1859 Bridgnorth, Shropshire and Julia Morgan b. 1860 Wellington, Shropshire). That is the extent of my Brown research to date.

That's correct. My great grandfather is Richard Dixon Summers. His daughter Frances Sarah (b. 1868 Dawley) would have ben my great aunt; Lucy Annie (b. Oct 19, 1874 Dawley) is my grandmother. Winifred (b. June 9, 1907 Dawley) is my mother.
The Summers and Browns intermarried more than once. Frances Sarah Summers married Thomas Brown (b. 1869 Wellington, Salop); I believe he was the son of William Lester Brown (b. 1840 Staffordshire). They had a number of children, one of whom -- Lucy A. (b. May 9, 1904 Saltley, Birmingham) married on 7 Mar 1925 Joseph William Brown (b. Oct 1897 Madeley, Salop). Joseph William was the son of Joseph Brown (b. 1859 Bridgnorth, Salop). I have been unable to trace the Browns back any further than Joseph Brown and William Lester Brown. Another note a daughter ofJoseph William Brown and Lucy A. Brown is Marjorie. In the early 1950's Marjorie Brown married Donald Summers (in Newport, Mon.) who was ther son of Frederick Summers, brother to Lucy Annie and Frances Sarah.

Hi
Do you believe that all the browns are related?
frances Sarah Summers = m= Thomas Brown
Thomas Brown born 1869 wellington shrop father William Lester Brown b 1840 staffordshire
Have you found them on any census and what make you think that Thomas Browns father is who you say?
Their daughter Lucy A Brown =m= Joseph William Brown 1925 madley shrop Father -Joseph Brown b 1859 do you have this family on the census?
cheers cardiff ???
-
I have not been able to connect the Brown families as yet (that is, William Lester, father of Thomas, and Joseph, father of Joseph William. I do have the census records for William Brown (Lester not on the census records) for 1871, 1881, and 1891 and I do have thge marriage certificate for Thomas and Frances which lists William Lester Brown as Thomas' father. Also Thomas and Frances named their eldest child, Harold Lester Brown. I have the 1891 census for Joseph and Julia Brown, parents of Joseph William.
