Hi
I am trying to find the birth of John Jesney born about  1824
On the 1841 census it shows him living in Upgate Louth with the Burton family as a chimney sweep
he married Ellen Bryne from Dublin  in the 50's I have no evidence to support this can't find a record
1851 I can't find him
1861 he is living with wife and children in Pocklington
I have a death cert for Ellen Jesney 1866
1871 ?
 re married Hannah freir 1870's
I wonder from the LDS info and looking the census records if he was born in Alvingham Lincolnshire?
Any ideas please how to find this record

IGI extracted record which means taken from the actual parish register

John Jesney  ch. 16.9. 1821 Alvingham, Lincoln

Mother Sarah Jesney

No father's name points to being illegitimate.

I will take a look around the 1851 perhaps his name is mis transcribed.


I cant see a previous marriage on the index's, you could send for the second marriage to Ellen see what he gave his status as .

This is my husbands side of the family and I am trying to carry on from where his cousin had got up to -John and Ellen

I have tried everything to find him in 51 using just his first name, born in Lincoln and wild cards but nothing.  :(

I noted that he was illegitimate so searched the IGI for a marriage of his mother Sarah to see if he might be under a different name.

There is a marriage in Doncaster 7.8.1825 of s Sarah Jesney  the year after he was born, but it is a submitted record and no spouse is given. :(

I have found the marriage of Sarah Jesney 7.8.1825 to a Thomas Raynor, dont know if this is his mother or whether it will help  :-\
