Hi,

I found a reference in a Victorian Police Gazette in November 1899 where his brother Selim Doblie of 11 Eureka St Ballarat was looking for George. 

George Doblie was described as Assyrian, fishhawker, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair moustache only, dark complexion, stout build. Was last heard of in Geelong about six months ago.

this sounds like it could be George  in 1907 his first wife Alice was fined in Geelong for breaking window panes in the Port Arlington Hotel thankyou  regards Dianne

Lucy is buried at the Avoca Cemetery and on that register the spelling is DOBLEY  ;D

George may not have been altogether truthful about his age in the Newspaper, either that or the informant was wrong

I agree  also Lucy Preston his wife she was supposd to be 29 when she died in 1919 she was married in 1916 aged 28 yrs I cannot find a birth for her .Her father was Edward william John preston and mother Ethol Howie

Possibility ??
Edward Johns PRESTON b 1856 Chilwell-  John PRESTON and  Rosannah CLARK # 8843 - but it's not Preston I wonder if their is an error on the index or this might not be him of course. This couple had 9 children btween 1855-1869 in Chillwell, Geelong and Carningham.

Edward's son:

Can't see the other siblings .
