Hi,
I'm trying to find info on my Ggrandfather, Patrick Bannigan (born in Monaghan, Ireland c1872), who served in the Boer War. What little information that I have on him is that he was enlisted in the Royal Artillery No 84565 but deserted a year after enlistment. He had joined under the name of Clifford, not Bannigan. "He has evaded the authorities until a week ago when he was found out, and taken in charge. His wife is now destitute." says a report, found in the records of the Mitchell Library, Glasgow.
I believe that he was then, after punishment, sent out to South Africa.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Father's name - Felix
Mother's name - Mary
Sibling's names - Thomas, James, Mary Anne, Susan Catherine, Sarah, Joseph.
He would have joined up in Scotland (he was living in Glasgow at the time).
