Hi Keith,
You may remember that James Bateman "married" a lady called Eliza Jane Davis.
- Albert Edward Bateman was one of their youngest sons.
I believe that Eliza Jane's surname wasn't exactly DAVIS or DAVIES but DAVIDGE.
Eliza Jane Davidge, born June Qtr 1867, daughter of Alfred Richard Davidge and his wife Eliz. Rebecca (nee Hotchkiss)
This Eliza Jane D. is shown on 1871 & 1881 census - and then she vanishes maybe to reinvent herself as James Bateman's wife.
I have further details if you want them

It is a shame that Di did not post any refs ............
I don't know whether this agrees or disagrees with Di's detail.

Hi Keith :)
I've just done a Search (icon on top of the page) and searched for Bateman by member Keith Bateman (your old user name)
Two pages of results come up. I'm sure that most of the info that you've lost is there but it would mean doing an awful lot of links :-\

deleted - no longer relevant ;D

Hi Di (& Keith)
I'll digest the latest info later but thought I'd mention that once reading the EJD info them finding Bateman/Warren marriage I immediately thought that James had married a "cousin" or "cousin-in-law" (through the Warren poss links).
EJD could have married a Warren cousin................?

I must put the words "Thank You" on my repeat ;D ;D ;D ;D
I remember now that my grandad and gandmother married in 1916, - after all dads brothers and sisters were born.
Thank You

Hi Sandie,
That's brilliant that you've found all Keith's family history. ;D
He should be pleased with that little miracle.
I'll delete my long post (above) as it's no longer relevant now that all the important info has been found.

Have you managed to get back all you need?

Hi all,
Thanks again - have started to look at (slowly) the old pages you told me about --- while I do this can any tell me what happened at 1911?
My bateman is the otherone - (not the shoe makers)
By the way I was confused a bit as to who I was talking to - then I realised that you (Ray) was helping me on both counties. :D :D :D
Thanks
