Anne married Francis Warry in 1853 in Somerset.
She was Francis' second wife and 2 years later they migrated to Australia aboard the "Kate" arriving in December 1855 with 4 children from the first marriage and 2 of their own.
Francis died in 1866 leaving Anne widowed at 42 with 6 young children.
She remained in Hargraves NSW and is buried with Francis in the Hargraves General Cemetery.
She is listed as an innkeeper in 1872 (Francis had his publican's license in 1860 for the Louisa Hotel, Meroo Creek) however in later years she is listed in Post Office directories as a baker.
Anne is my great great grandmother (I am a descendant of Richard Henry Warry).

jaybak

Hi GrannyPG
I live in Sydney and have been researching on and off for a few years now.
My grandmother was Ruby Warry and I am guessing that you are descended from Reginald as you have Hocking as one of your surname interests?
Would love to swap information with you - pm me if you are interested.
Best regards,
Jenny

Hi Trish,
Thanks for that information - I already have Daniel Jones as Maria's dad (he appears in the 1841 census staying with Benjamin and Maria) and I have seen an IGI record of Maria's baptism however I haven't before seen any reference to siblings Joseph, Henry and Rebecca - was this also at the LDS Familysearchpilot?
Your posting has sent me scurrying off there to see what I can uncover!
Interesting to note they were Non-Conformist. They are the first non-conformists that I know of in my tree so far.
Thanks again,
Jenny

Marias Siblings are on the same Batch as her IGI Christening;
Find her Chrsitening, click on Batch No. and when page loads just fill in/Jones/Daniel and Mary. Then click on search an all Children to that couple will come up :)
When searching for someone it is important to find Siblings to get a time-frame to find the correct Parents Marriage. So I always look for Siblings that way.
Trish :)

Thanks Trish - I didn't know of that extra search feature. Now to go back over my tree and see who I have missed.

Hi,
I am new to this site.
Ann was the oldest sister of my father's maternal grandmother Ellen Marianne Horwood. I have her birth date and those of her siblings. I have been unable to find their baptisms. Hoping to hear from you.

Hi Letsy,
Great to hear from you. I also have no records of Ann or her siblings' baptisms. The only sources I have searched are the censuses, lds searches and free reg. I am in Australia so am limited to internet searching. Ann was widowed in 1866 in the NSW gold-mining town of Hargraves She was 42 with 6 children - she died at age 92.
I have wondered if any other members of her birth family emigrated to the Australian goldfields.
-
Ann's was born April 7 1824 just shy of four months after her parents marriage on December 25th 1823. Her siblings were
Henry aka Harry born January 17th 1827
Mary born August 12th 1829
Elizabeth born September 27th 1831
Joseph born Whitechapel London June 29th 1833
William born August 31st 1835
Charles Felix born November 9th 1837
Thomas born February 29th 1840
Elizabeth born July 17th 1844
Emily born October 26th 1846
Ellen Marianne born August 26th 1849
As far as I have been able to establish only Emily went out to Australia. My father said she went twice but I have found only one record of her going on the Pericles in the 1870s. She returned to England and died unmarried.
Henry/Harry is nowhere to be found after the 1851 census so may have emigrated.
Joseph became a policeman.
Like his brother Henry, William vanishes after 1851. There is a possiblity that he died as Ellen names her second child William Thomas who died age 3 days and who may have been named for his deceased uncles.
Charles Felix was briefly in the army and discharged on health grounds. He married twice and his children all seem to have died of TB.
Thomas may have served in the Footguards and died unmarried.
Elizabeth also vanishes.
Ann's mother Maria Jones died in 1853 of perotinitis. Benjamin remarried about six months later a widow Elizabeth Harris nee Rolfe. Benjamin died in 1874 - there is no mention of Ann in his will.
I have copies of the certificates for the deaths of Hannah Horwood, Maria Jones, Daniel Jones, Benjamin and Maria Horwood. I also have one for a Henry Horwood which may or may not be the right one. I have a copy of Benjamin's second marriage certificate.
I hope this is of some use.
Regards

Hi "Letsy"
Thank you for the information on Ann Horwood and her family it has helped me heaps.
You have two Elizabeth's one born 27th September, the other born 17 July 1844.
Is this correct?
Regards
Grannypg

Yes. I don't know when the first Elizabeth died but as she is not listed in the 1841 census I have assumed she died before then.
Happy Christmas. and best wishes for 2012.
Elizabeth (otherwise Letsy)
