hi , I'm looking for my girlfriends family , i have found a percy marshall born 1889, canterbury kent , but i cant seem to go back an further , i was wondering if any of you good people out there could help , many thanks paul

A copy of his birth certifcate should confirm his parents but this group on 1891 census looks promising:

Hi,
Priscilla Marshall is shown as Head of the family, a laundress, born in Canterbury.
Access to 1881 census is free; have you looked for Priscilla there?

Sarah DOBBS may be either Thomas or Priscillas Mother who has remarried to a DOBBS.
EDIT looks like Thomas's Mother remarried a DOBBS as I have found Priscillas Parents below.
