Title: palmer/huxtable family
Post by: huxtable on Thursday 28 April 11 15:28 BST (UK)
Hi

I think I have just barged in on your chat, but I am new to this and couldnt find a place to post a message.

Im looking for relatives of lillian Palmer born in England in 1918 and died in Salisbury Rhodesia in 1972. Her mom was Georgine Henriette Palmer.  Georgine  came to South africa in about 1920 with her 2 daughters. Kathleen born in 1923 and Lillian.

She also had a daughter called mary Palmer who died at the age of 13 in Cape Town in 1936.
She is buried in maitland cemetary in the plot of Kavanagh. John Thomas Kavanagh was buried in the same cemetary  on 13 Sept 1927 aged 53.

I have Lillians marriage certifacte to Arthur Huxtable in Salisbury in 1940, as well as her death cert in 1972. Her son is trying to find her birth cert. We dont have a fathers name, only the kavanagh connection to her sisters burial site. can anyone help me, or can you plse give me some tips on how to post this information?

Many Thanks

Hi huxtable and welcome to Rootschat,

I've split your post and moved it to the Beginners board until we are able to find a better place - hopefully you will get a good response!

On another post, Huxtable states that Georgine's maiden name was LACEY, but I can't see a birth or marriage in that name.   ???

If daughter Mary died aged 13 in 1936, she must have been born c1923 - about the same time as Kathleen.  Is it the same person, ie Kathleen Mary/Mary Kathleen, or is her age an error?

The PALMER-HILL births which Allan found are perfect matches date-wise, but I can't spot a suitable marriage for the parents...  :-\

Just about to post the same Rambler  ;D

The only Palmer registered in the time frame with mmn Lacey was a Kathleen M Palmer in 1918 on the Isle of Wight.  :-\  This obviously doesn`t match.

Mmm - I saw that too but can't tie anything else in.

Huxtable ,on the other post, mother is named as Georgine Harriet (Henriette here).
Also, is there no father named on Lilian's marriage certificate?
I know it says Mr R C Palmer here but they may not be married I suppose.

What was Mr Palmer's name?
Do you have an approximate year of birth for Georgine from her death perhaps? (and Mr Palmer)?

Were they definitely from UK - could they be from Ireland (Kavanagh connection??)

There's a Georgina Harriet PALMER born Mar Q 1894 - possibly a red herring....?

One site I looked at http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/golden/A%20Guide%20to%20research%20in%20South%20Africa.htm  suggested that South African mariage certs didn't give the father's name, which isn't very helpful!

Mo - I thought it might be Ruislip, but I'm not terribly convinced...
