:) My Walkers.
William Walker abt 1796, Whitwick, married Harriet Brown in Loughborough.
Thomas Walker abt 1808, Whitwick, married Mary Maria Clifford in Lowesby.
Father of above noted as Anthony Walker abt 1758 on William's second marriage.
Does anyone else have Walkers from Whitwick or surrounding area??
Regards,
Spatts. :)

Did you ever get a certificate to prove who Thomas Walker married?

I have a Joseph Walker, from 1841 census born 1796 Leicestershire living Shepshed died 1844
He married 21 Feb 1820 St Botolphs Shepshed, Rosanna (Hannah) Jones b 1796 Shepshed
Dont know where he came from, can he be connected to your Walkers?

:) Hi Chris,
Not sure if your joseph is related, I'm sure my William & Thomas had other brothers & sisters but, I've not been able to find any info on their father or who their mother was. If your Joseph came from Whitwick, it could be a good possibility.
Hi Diddy,
It would be great if you could find any info on Chris's Joseph or my William & Thomas's family, William got married in Loughborough 11 Dec 1821.
Hi Richard,
As you know, William is my (direct link), the thread is What Walkers do you have from Whitwick/Leicestershire, nothing else, please don't spoil this thread for me. If you check the 1841 & 1851 Censuses, you'll see them living next door to each other, 12 & 13 ST.Benedicts lane, Lincoln. Named children after each other, named children after each others wives & check the Business Directory to see they were running a Earthenware Shop together 1841/51. Both changed their professions, possibly due to someone or two members of the family going to Australia Gold Prospecting & did very well. That is one of two hard tasks ahead of me, to find out who went to Australia & more info on William's parents & grandparents if poss.
Best regards,
Spatts.

Hi Diddy,
Thanks for Joseph Walker burial info, sure this age is more likely correct, although he was stated as 45 0n 1841 census (Finney hill Blackbrook area), Ros(Hannah) as 35 so that matches. I have her death in Loughborough 1872, so need to check intermediate census records to confirm birth, not sure how I had 1796 for her originally
Could it be that, back to the original query Joseph was of Whiwick, I wonder?

Hi Chris,
My William Walker named one of his sons Joseph, he also named a son after brother Thomas, it seemed the norm to name the first son after their father or themselves.
The records for Whitwick are badly faded, the CD Books on Whitwick are the same, they are so hard to read.
Hi spark,
Is that William Walker from your tree or one you found to help? I have listed a few Walkers from Cole Orton.
I'm still compiling Walkers from Whitwick & checking I havn't duplicated them.
Regards,
Spatts.

Hi Spatts,
It is one from my tree to help / hinder, you may have a linkage. I have not got further back as there are too many with the same name to be certain which is mine.
Best wishes

Hi again,
Second attempt as PC inadvertantly shutdown mid composure.
I should add that I believe I have a second family of Walkers, that I have yet to follow up on, from family stories. They are more likely to be Whitwick Walkers.
Thomas Walker married Eliza Commons 1900 AdlZ RD.
I know of ~6 children, some from stories others post 1912 when mothers maiden name is recorded on the indexes.
Cheers

Hi Spark,
Do you have any Walkers going to Australia??
I have two Walkers that moved from Whitwick to ST. Benedicts Lane, Lincoln, Lincolnshire. I'm trying to find which members of my Walker family went to Australia gold prospecting & did quite well, I have family rings that have been passed down by the one who came back.
I have lots of posts on here, Lincolnshire board & Australia board under Spatts but, although I havn't found them yet, I feel I'm getting close. Long story but, the thread ' Walkers of Lincoln & those who went to Oz' explains it in more detail.
Just about to put another post on the Lincolnshire board about a Isabella Otter married to a William Walker, a Thomas Walker sailed on the same ship 'Catherine' with his wife in 1851. There was also a George, not a sibling but, could be a cousin, he came back in 1855, married & returned to Oz with his new bride, his brother & his brother's wife.
Best regards,
Spatts.

Hi Spatts,
I have no knowledge of any of my Walkers going antipodean! That is not to say they didn't.
Have you tried http://www.goleicestershire.com/see-and-do/Whitwick-Historical-Group.aspx (http://www.goleicestershire.com/see-and-do/Whitwick-Historical-Group.aspx) ? I live close by and was a member for ~5years.
I have a tree on ancestry if you have an acount I'll PM you the tree name.
Cheers

Hi Sweitz,
Its so good when you can put a picture to a name & your Grandmother was very wise to write on the back, any little information helps a great deal. I think its a smashing picture, noticed the boots on her feet, I have a picture of myself of about 4 years old, with what looks like a minature pair of working mens boots on.
Do you have any further info on Arthur Walker & was he from Whitwick? I'm compiling as much info on Walkers from Whitwick as I possibly can. Thankyou for sharing your picture.
Regards,
Spatts.

Spatts;
A thought just struck me.....have you seen the posts we have been working on under the Fox's???
I was just thinking that you would be able to get a feel for the local area in which most of the Family was located. I am sure you already reviewed the info but on the off chance you did not....here's the link. I am sure you just have to click on some link on your screen but here this is ........
