Not sure where this should be posted !
I am hoping to find a photo of a friend who died some years ago. We lost touch when we moved to Australia. His name was Peter Graham, otherwise know as 'peter the painter" or "painter.
he was about 50years old in 1950 and lived in the Brighton/Hove area.
he used to do painting jobs for Johnny Verrall (deceased) and worked alongside Johnnys brother 'lofty' (Tony) Verrall.
We know Peter had a sister , we think, half sister but no one knows her name, she too is now deceased.
I know this is needle in the haystack stuff but Rootschatters have always been so helpful in the past.
Thank you.
I tried the 'my Brighton and Hove' website. :D

Needle in a field of haystacks more like.
There are no local births or marriages and the nearest reference is way out date-wise. For what its worth, Curious Fox has a person interested in Peter Evelyn Graham born London in 1923. Died in Hove in 1972.
The only alternative is for you to start ploughing through old street directories and electoral roles. Roy G

Thank you Roy. I am wonderering if the person on Curious Fox is his daughter. I dont really want to sign up for something just to see ! Having problems with passwords etc, so many of them. That is Peter by the way.
His father was James Harold Graham and he was an acrobat , James had a brother Edgar and he was an acrobat too. The funny thing is that they worked the London Music halls, yet there seems to be nothing on the Internet about them. It would have been the 1900s.
So if any one else out there knows of a Music Hall site or entertainers newspaper around that time, please point me in the right direction.I thought that would be the easiest thing in the world to find.

Now knowing what you are after, I was going to direct you to the UK Museum of the Performing Arts. However, I believe their resources have now been passed to the Victoria & Albert Museum. The page I copied from the Internet about them states:-
COLLECTIONS Theatre & Performance
The V&A's Theatre Collection hold the UK's national collection of material about live performance in the UK since Shakespeare's day, covering drama, dance, musical theatre, circus, music hall, rock and pop, and other forms of live entertainment.
Theatre and Performance galleries dedicated to the performing arts, display works of art,
costumes, ephemera, video recordings, puppets, posters and photographs.
So try this website for clues where to look.
