Hello
I would be grateful if anyone could look up the baptism of William Carrier which took place at St James on 7th January 1813. William was aged 20. I would be particularly interested in any other information which may be given in the record and whether any other adults were baptised at the same time.
Thanks

Dear Slipper
I have looked at the transcript for St James and unfortunately there is no other info.
17.1.1813 William Carrier son of Jonathon and Jane Carrier age 20 at the the time of baptism. Shearman
No other adult baptisms on that day. Just three baptisms to Elliott, Read and Allaway families.
regards
Lucy

Dear Lucy
Thanks very much for checking this for me. I assume he is my ancestor who was born in Trowbridge in c. 1793. I don't know how usual adult baptisms were and hoped it might provide a link to prove that he is my William Carrier.
Thanks again - much appreciated.

Would this be William Carrier, the Chartist from Trowbridge?

I don't think this can be the same man. He left Trowbridge sometime in between January 1813 (his baptism) and August 1826 (his marriage). He was married to Rachel Kelly in Plumstead, Kent and they lived in the Plumstead/Woolwich area for the rest of their lives. They had 8 children.
I don't really know anything about his ancestors but presumably he may have been related to William Carrier, the Chartist. I suppose it depends on how many Carrier families there were in Trowbridge at the time.
Thanks very much for this info. as I hadn't known about William Carrier, the Chartist before.
