Hi,
I am trying to find ANY details about the Daisley family in Ireland. In particular I was looking for any details on William Daisley who married Rebecca Dick round about 1840-50. He also remarried a Margaret Brown and I am unsure of the date for this.
The family did move to Scotland - Any details on the Daisleys or any links to Irish websites would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Have a look at Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html) and My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start? (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,498742.0.html).
When did the family move to Scotland?

Sorry for the delay.
I now have some more details........ William Daisley was born around 1818 in County Tyrone. He married Rebecca Dick around 1840 and they had two children in Ireland, Catherine born around 1843 and John born around 1845. His parents were James Daisley and Elizabeth Gilmour.
William, Rebecca, Catherine and John moved over to Scotland around 1845 - 1850.

Hi....
On www.rootsireland.ie, there is a William Dailsey marrying a Rebecca in 1838 in Co. Tyrone. On Family search, there are two matches for children born to William and Rebecca:
Josias Dazlay (surname spelling changed) 24 September 1857 in Lanark and Angelo Dazlay 1st Feb 1855 in Lanark. Couldn't find anything on the two children born in Ireland..the only John Daisley I could see was born 1814, Co. Donegal.
Hope this helps in some way
Annie

Hi,
That's magic - Angelo is my great great grandfather I think. I need to try and get credits for roots ireland but I dont know if my bank will charge me for paying in Euros. Thank you for finding that about the wedding for me - I really appreciate it.
-
Because Angelo and Josias were born in Scotland, you would have to apply in Scotland for his birth cert...glad I could be of help though
-
A Scottish birth certificate records the date and place the parents married, so that should assist you too, if only to confirm it's the correct family.

Hi,
I stumbled across this and I think we are looking for the same people.
I am a daisley and from Ireland. I have family history in Scotland and Australia.
I woul love to know what information we can share. Please get back to me.

Hi Stewy,
That's brilliant - What a nice surprise. Since I posted this, I have found out loadsabout the Daisley's who moved here. Angelo was my great-great grandfather and I recently visited one of the places where he lived...... Was he any relation of yours?
-
I know very little at the moment as I just started, I'm moving to Australia soon and I have my fathers cousins there who we never met and I'm trying to track them down. My father and grandfather were from Falkirk and some of my grandfathers bothers moved to Australia as well as my grandfather but moved back to Scotland a few years later.
I'm trying to unravel this part first.
Does any of this sound familiar.

Angelo (My 2nd Great Grandfather) had a half brother Matthew Daisley who went to Australia and died in New South Wales in 1942 aged 77. As far as I am aware just now that's the only connection with Australia I have.
That's not to say that there isn't a link there as I am not sure if Matthew and his wife Sarah had any children which could be your Uncles - I haven't researched that side yet.

Ok. I have spoken to my father and he knows very little.
I found my great grandfather who was Archibald Daisley from Falkirk born in 1886, and my great great grand father would have been a Thomas Daisley also born in Falkirk in 1852.
So our connection could be made from my great great great grandfather who was James Daizlie born in 1823 in Donegal and moved to Falkirk in 1861 and only had the one son Thomas.
