One of my grandmothers, Mary Woodcock (born abt 1780), married Benjamin Patrick in the St Margaret church in Leicester in 1801. Their children were baptised in the Bishop street Wesleyan church. On one of the entries it says Mary's parents were a Lewis Woodcock and Elizabeth Cort.
Can anyone help me find Lewis Woodcock's marrige and the births of their kids if possible?
I've checked the IGI but they don't seem to be there.
Thanks for your help! Laverdiere

Hello Laverdiere
The only marriage I can see on Leicester & Leicestershire Marriages CD 1754-1837 is as follows
Leicester St Mary's 1785
Lewis Woodcock of Caldecott Rutland Widower aged 33yrs
&
Mary Simons of this parish Spinster aged 25yrs
Farmer
Marriage by License
This is the only entry for Lewis Woodcock

Thank you for the look up!
It's interesting because I just got hold of Lewis Woodcock of Caldecott Rutland's will--he doesn't list my Mary Woodcock but she would have been in South Africa at the time--as he was a widower perhaps she was his daughter by his first wife...?

Today I bought a book of Psalms set to music which has a hand written page by Lewis Woodcock, who it says "played the bassoon in Caldecott church for " a great number of years". Researching the book which dates from around 1750, I came across this page and thought it could be of interest...

I would love a copy! Would you mesage me a image of it? Thank you!

Hi
According to Caldecott PR Mary Woodcock was born 21 Feb 1779 daughter of Lewis & Elizabeth, they also had a son Thomas who was born 21 March 1777. Have found a burial for Elizabeth (Cort) Woodcock as Caldecott 16 August 1785 wife of Lewis and a burial for Rhoda Woodcock 30 August 1785 daughter of Lewis & Elizabeth.
This maybe Lewis's parents Lewis Woodcock & Mary Waterfield married Lyddington 7 Dec 1747 and had the following children baptized at Caldecott
George Woodcock bap 14 Feb 1748/9 and burial 22 Feb 1748/9
George Woodcock bap 28 March 1750 and burial 1 Dec 1750
Lewis Woodcock bap 10 Nov 1751
Frances Woodcock bap 29 Oct 1753
Thomas Woodcock bap 31 Aug 1755.
Hope this helps

This website says my scan is too large and it won't let me post it. Anyhow I have to go to work now. If anyone wants to see it I can email it if I have an address to send it to. I'll try to attach it to this message but last time it wouldn't work...

Thanks. Have private messaged you through the site.
