Hello Alice, Welcome to RootsChat...
... the marriage of maude Anderson to George Boyer Fiveash shows as 1917/5432 at BDM on line https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/search/2
... you may want to explore that site further, always exciting to 'find' the information yourself.

Hello Alice
... and welcome. :)
As you can see from the marriage index reference which "mare" has given above, your great-gran's name is shown only as "Maude". That is not to say she didn't perhaps have another christian name. ;)
I see you have given her death year as 1995 ?
Can't find a likely death registration for that year - but do you think this might be the one ?
1970 - FIVEASH - Maud - 71 years - (born about 1899)
[The spelling is "Maud" ... without the "e". ] ??

Hi Alice,
depending on the spelling there are 2 likely births
1899/7715 Anderson Gertrude Maude to Caroline, father NR
or
1899/2146 Anderson Maud Christina Laura to Kate and William
Cheers Janette
-
Im not sure if Pearl is a nickname or her name is Pearl Maude Anderson
Hi again Alice
Mmmm ... I wonder if "Pearl Maud(e)" may have been the daughter of Maude and George B. FIVEASH ?
[I have found a marriage reference mid-1940's for a lady of that name, to a Mr LEACH.] Do those names " ring a bell with you " ? ;)

Hi Alice
Can confirm that the "Maud Christina Laura ANDERSON" born 1899 is not "yours" (this lady married in 1926).
Of course with a surname such as ANDERSON, it can be a little tricky to find the correct person if you only have limited information to start with.
What we always recommend, it that you purchase a birth, death or marriage record for your relative, (in this case your g-grandmother), and then work backwards from the known information.
In this instance, purchasing a copy of the marriage record for Maude ANDERSON and George Boyer FIVEASH (1917), would give you the details of both their parents (and this is info which has been supplied by the couple, themselves, so it is a more reliable source.)
If you go to the NZ BDM website, you can find details of how to order a copy of the marriage record - the cost of which is $20.40. (For family history purposes, always request a "printout" of the record (rather than certificate) - as this gives the maximum amount of info. available ... and is the least expensive option.) ;)
Once you have this additional information, if you add it here on your thread, then we can help you further. :)

Hi Alice ... ^ ^ use this link to get to BDM website (the other one doesn't appear to be working.)

Hi Alice
Just looking at the NZ electoral rolls (index only), it seems your great-grandmother used just the name "Maud" (rather than "Maude" - or with another christian name). ;)
Maud is shown (along with George Boyer FIVEASH) at the following locations.
1928 to 1938 - at Mataura
1946 to 1957 - at Westland
1963 at Marlborough (last listing for Maud - though George is still there in 1972.)

There is a death for
1941/23215 Anderson Caroline Wilhemine 71Y
but I suspect she was married
1909/1480 Caroline Wilhelmina Ruebe to John Anderson
so maybe not your lady

Hi again Alice
NZ Death
1941 - ANDERSON - Caroline Wilhemine
aged ... 71 ... (bc 1870)
[[ Just noting the particular spelling of 2nd christian name :
"Wilhemine" which differs slightly to the more usual spelling of "Wilhelmine" or 'Wilhelmina" : ]]
~ Lu
-
ANDERSON - Caroline Wilhemine
is on Electoral rolls (index) from 1911 to 1938 at Rangitikei-Manawatu.
-
Caroline Wilhemine (Wilhelmine) ANDERSON was the daughter of "E. RUEBE" of Wanganui.
[E. RUEBE appears to have been Ernest REUBE. There is a death notice "Wanganui Herald" 1904 for Caroline REUBE (64) widow of Ernest REUBE. Also marriage notice REUBE to ANDERSON - 1909 - "Whanganui Chronicle' - 5 June 1909. ]

-
... oops ... sorry, spelling errors in previous post. :D :-[
The surname should read ... RUEBE .... (in all cases).

-
Buried in Wanganui Old Public Cemetery.

Hi y'all, Thanks for the great info. i went to my Aunts this past weekend and she has confirmed a few details for me. Maud (how its supposed to be spelt) Anderson just showed up when she was 13 on the Fiveash's Doorstep and was their maid until she married George Boyer Fiveash in 1917. Apparently their is a Family secret that my Nana went to the grave with and no one else knows!!! lol
-
So good to have some verbal history to help 'furnish the facts' :) mare

Hi Alice
Oh goodness. ;D
But if you have a few $$$ to spare, (and you're still wanting to find out more about Maud), then it would be very worthwhile getting a "printout" of her 1917 marriage record. ;)
"Names of parents" were entered in the marriage register, so maybe Maud did at that time, offer some information ?? ;)

alibas - re Maud Fiveash nee Anderson.
George Boyer Fiveash married Maud Anderson 28 December 1917.
Mauds parents were F. George Anderson M. Annie Kathleen Anderson.
The source for this information is the original copy of the marriage register.
Annie Kathleen's maiden name was also Anderson.
I am your name sakes daughter and hold the family papers and some photographs which may be of interest to yourself and others researching the Fiveash connections.
Maud Fiveash was always known as "Pearl" and died in Blenheim, New Zealand 9 October 1970 but is buried in Greymouth cemetary.
George Boyer Fiveash died 10 June 1979 in Blenheim and is also buried at Greymouth cemetary

Hi alibas.
It would pay to remove your email address from your posting, this is in case of SPAM abuse. Sunnlyn, needs to make another two posts, before they can access the PM system, and then you can exchange email addresses.

Sorry guys but this is not applicable to the family stories about Maud Fiveash born Anderson - Paul's father was known as Tom by the way. Carry on thinking please about Maud"s lineage. Regards Sunnylyn (Maud"s Grand daughter)
