In Sep 1902, Mary Elizabeth Parkinson Jackson married Arthur Jackson Bradwell at Chorlton, Lancs.
Bradwell Arthur Jackson Chorlton 8c 1362
Jackson Mary Elizabeth P Chorlton 8c 1362
A son, Eric, was born 1908 (and eventually came to NZ)
Bradwell Eric Chorlton 8c 779
and I think her husband died 23 May 1908 at Manchester.
I would like to find where she came from, and where she went to. There are many Mary Elizabeth Jacksons on 1901 Census, but no way of telling which is her. Maybe she is on 1911 with age and birthplace??
Any help appreciated

Lancashire BMD has Mary E P Jackson born 1876 ST. George District of Manchester and FreeBMD has the same but list her as Mary Elizabeth P Jackson born Dec 1/4 1876 Manchester 8d 278.

Probate record show he left £713-3s-7d to his widow Mary Elizabeth Parkinson Bradwell. Probate at Manchester 4th June 1908.
Around 1909, £713 3s 7d would have the same spending worth of today's £40,694.00. Arthur is listed as a Grocer's inspector at the time of his death.
You can order a copy of the will from this web site for £5.

Nellie Parkinson Jackson died Jan 1949 age 70 and was buried on the 19th of the same month.
She was residing at 1 Old Hall Lane, Longsight. Manchester at the time of her death.
She is buried with her sister Ethel in Southern cemetery Manchester.
Ethel Parkinson Jackson was born 22nd July 1883 Manchester and died age 94 in Old Colwyn, Colwyn Bay north Wales. She is buried on 22nd Nov 1977.
They are both buried in the church of England section, grave number: S 1979.
So it looks like these two never married.

WOW!! Thank you J.D., so much extra and unexpected information. ;D :D
The 80yr old lady I am doing this for will be delighted to learn so much more about her previously unknown English ancestors. I'll get to work sorting it all out for her.

I am a granddaughter of Eric Bradwell, son of Mary Elizabeth Parkinson Jackson. I too live in NZ. I have been reading Eric's biography and am keen to find photos of his mother Mary and her 3 sisters -Emily, Nellie and Ethel.

Hi,
Unfortunately I can't help with the genealogy, but I lived at No 3 Old Hall Lane Levenshulme from 1949- 1958 and I believe a Miss Jackson was our next door neighbour.
I was born in 1944, so my memories of this time are a bit hazy, however, I do remember a few things about the house and Miss jackson if these are of any interest.

Hello THJ and a warm welcome to Rootschat ;D
Thank you for your comments on this thread. It is possible the lady you remember was either Nellie Parkinson Jackson or Ethel Parkinson Jackson, both spinsters as mentioned above.
My interest was only Mary Elizabeth Jackson, but I will pass on your news to the lady I have been helping.
Let me know if you want any genealogy help from New Zealand :D
