Title: ANDREWS Clifford Robinson

I've not been on here for ages, so hope I'm in the right place. A friend of mine from Canada is looking for her birth family; she's adopted.

Her grandfather was Clifford Robinson ANDREWS born abt 1893, died Quebec 1968. My friend believes he was born in Liverpool, emigrating to Canada sometime after that. Unfortunately, I can find no record of him or his birth in Liverpool, so I wondered whether you wonderful Rootschatters could help please?

The only other information she has is that he married a Roberta BARTLETT, born 1904 died 1990. She may have been born in Canada, we don't know. They had a daughter, Joan Marilyn ANDREWS, who at 22 years gave birth to her in the 1950s and she was adopted.

Any information will be very gratefully received.

Hi,

There is a WW1 Canadian attestation paper for a Clifford Robinson Andrews born 29th July, 1893 but it states he was born Dudwells, Wolfe which would be Quebec.

Hi Mo,

That sounds like the correct date. I wonder if my friend has it wrong, the Liverpool connection? Everything you state is correct, I cannot imagine many Clifford ANDREWS with the middle name Robinson.

I will pass this information back to my friend.

Unfortunately that Caroline Robinson married the other one the same page - William Houghton and John Andrews married Sarah Ann Ball.

John R Andrews and wife Carrie (according to the Canadian census) were also born in Quebec  :'(

It doesn't take much, but now I'm confused.

Are Clifford's parents, John and Caroline nee MARCH? Or is Clifford's mum Caroline nee Robinson (that would explain Clifford's Robinson middle name).

Thanks for taking an interesting folks. My friend really appreciates it, she's never known her true roots, so this is amazing for her.
