Title: Death of "Mr" Bestland
Post by: old bones on Saturday 16 April 11 14:36 BST (UK)
The newspaper archives report the death of "Mr Bestland",  in the Sat 23rd Dec 1837 issue of Leicestershire newspapers.  He is described as being of Brentingby, and of advanced years.

If anyone happens to have access to the appropriate death records I am interested to know what his christian name was, or any other particulars.

Many thanks.

Best I can see - and the only death registered in that name in Leicestershire .... being in the first Q of 1838, it may be that death was registered as soon as possible, but slipped into January ?

Deaths Mar 1838

Bestland  Henry    Melton Mowbray  15 143

The Melton Mowbray District would seem to correct for a death in Brentingby ..

There are only two I can see...

Burials in the parish of Freeby - abode Brentingby
HENRY BESTLAND - 20th December 1837 - aged 74
SUSAN BESTLAND - 6th November 1846 - aged 89

Thanks for that.  Bestland does not seem to be a very common name anywhere!  They mainly seem to show up in Dorset or London.
