This is one of the most difficult sites I have encountered on the Internet. How do I contact a member whose post says that he has a book for sale that I am interested in?
-
I'm sorry you find it confusing. :(
To contact the person who has the book for sale, send them a personal message by clicking on the small green scroll which is found under their user name on the left hand side of the screen. Clicking on the screen will bring up a message box in which you can type your message. Then click send.

It's a bit irritating that I have to make three posts before I can use the PM functions
I only stopped in here because of a hit on my grandfathers name on google and one of your members wanted information.
If you have problems with bots then use a logic captua

This problem has nothing to do with bots, so captcha techniques don't work.
PM sent.

Hello!
I have just joined rootschat and have a couple of questions re contacting another member:
- I note you mention a small green scroll under usernames, that can be used to contact them. Help, I can't see a green scroll anywhere on my screen...?
- will someone who has posted in or started a discussion automatically be sent an email when anyone else posts on that particular discussion?
Many thanks,
Alison

I believe that you need to have made three board posts before you can send private messages.
For you, one more post needed.
-
New members usually need 3 posts before they can see the little green scrolls and use PM system-
http://www.rootschat.com/help/pms.php
Members who have started topics or posted on them will get notification of new replies unless-
1) they've turned off notifications
2) they changed their email address and haven't registered the new one

Thanks both for your help. I guess this being my third post I will now hopefully see the green scroll... :)
