When they were building the new church in Tramore in 1858, a local man, Patrick Phelan was killed when he fell from the scaffolding while guiding a bucket of mortar to the masons. Can anyone tell me any more about this?
-
If you are on Facebook, you could ask that question in the "Tramore of Yore "Group or the "Waterford history" group, they might be able to help.
-
Thanks for that, I was involved in setting up the page. People with Tramore queries are welcome to post on it.

hi
local newspaper archives would more likely have a piece on such an accident

Details can be found in Waterford News Friday 2nd September 1921 page 7
Sorry - wrong date. This is a separate scaffolding incident in Tramore.

Hi Mindy, The accident in 1921 was actually in Waterford, but it was my family as well. :)
Thanks to you as well, Trevor, no joy down that avenue yet.

you could contact this site:
http://www.discovertramore.ie/history
the only Patrick Phelan I can find died in 16.7.1862 from Tramore
http://www.irelandoldnews.com
then click no Irish Death Notice Index (it is about half way down the page) (Cork Examiner)

Thanks Rathmore, that's not him, but you have given me a clue to something else. :)
