Hi All,
Have been researching my family tree and visited the liverpool archives the other week. This helped me with something I was stuck on. I was researching the Burt family tree. and found out that Thomas Burt's father was Thomas Birt (now on the parish records, the father is spelt Thomas Birt but the son is spelt Thomas Burt. it looks like someone has been writing Birt in the grooms part but has then corrected it to Burt).
Thomas Burt married Sarah Edwards in liverpool, St Phillips in 1837. Their fathers Thomas Burt and Edward Edwards were recorded on the document as 'dead'.
Thomas was born 1811 - 1816 according to the census, but marriage certificate suggests 1813 which we believe is correct. He was born in Birmingham. He worked as a post office clerk in liverpool and died there in 1870. He had three children maybe more but not found them) hannah, thomas and william.
I think I may have found record of his birth on familysearch which suggests he was born 1813 at St phillips, Summer Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire and lists his father as Thomas Burt and Margaret Burt.
I just wondered if anybody has any info that could confirm this or visiting the birmingham archives any time soon?
I am due to be visiting the liverpool and the preston (to cover liverpool and lancashire) archives in the forseeable future so if you require anything looking up there and cannot make it yourself, please message me and i will have a look for you!

If it's confirmation you want,these are their other children;
Harriett b.Aug.1808
William b.June 1811
Henry b.Aug 1 1815
Sarah b.June 1817
All St.Phillips
There's a marriage:
Thomas Burtt= Margaret Powell Sept. 8 1803 Edgbaston (St.Bartholomew's)
These are extracted Parish Records
Looking at all the info. Hannah Burt was Sarah's daughter before marriage, father probably this one:
Christening:Hannah Edwards or Wilcox/Nov.18/1832/Bodfari ( 1 mile from Tremeirchion)/parents/Richard Wilcox & Sarah Edwards.
Given the name Burt on marriage which was the usual thing for young children of other relationships.

Hi Jim,
How did you find all this out?
Do you mean that Sarah Edwards could have had a trelationship with Richard Wilcox which resulted in Hannah? She has then taken the name Burt when Thomas and Sarah married?
Thank you very much for your help Jim, really appreciate it. If you ever need anything looking up in the north west, let me know!

Owing to the age gap between Hannah & the other 2 sons, the marriage date of the parents & that Hannah was born in a small Welsh village as her mother was it's seems unlikely Thomas Burt is the father. Also there's no birth recorded for a Hannah Burt that I can see.
It was very common for young children even from a previous marriage to be given the new husbands name. This happened into the 20th.C.
The Siblings of Thomas came from the IGI batches for St. Phillip's.

NBI has a burial recorded for Thomas Burt/1830/St.Mary's,Whittall St.aged 55 which could be his father.St.Mary's was a Chapel made out of St.Phillip's & was being used for burials at this time.
