I have a brick wall - as we all do. This one involves Thomas Timbrell born 1860 in Minety, Wiltshire. I have census records for him with Eliza Jane Staples in 1891, 1901 and I have photos of this woman. The problem is I can find no marriage record at all. I have searched on microfilm for the parish church in Minety and have found all their children recorded but no marriage >:( Does anyone have any other suggestions of marriage locations where I can look.....would appreciate your thoughts.

Not saying this is him but assuming he got married from 18 onwards, i started off at 1878 and may have just got lucky......

Thanks for checking these out for me. I too have seen the reference to a Thomas Timbrell in London at the Goldhawk Tavern. It is maybe a coincidence but the Thomas I am dealing with did run a public house called the Three Horseshoes in the Leigh in Minety from about 1895 to 1910. I wonder if he learned the trade in London. Also there is a census record for an Eliza Staples about 1/4 mile from the pub in London, she was a servant - the correct age and from Somerset (which is where, rumor has it, that Eliza Jane Staples, whose marriage I am looking for, is from)
I really appreciate all your help.

Whilst researching my own Timbrells, I came across somebody whose Timbrells were in Minety from the 1600's. She as a member of the Wiltshire family history society and members addresses are published, so am sure it would be ok for me to give you her address. She may be able to help.

Also if you look at www.ancestral-villages.co.uk you will find your Thomas Timbrell, and a contact e-mail address. Unless this is you.
