Hi , I am beginning to wonder if I will ever be able to find Ben Hanton , circa 1785 -91 . I have now come to the conclusion that he was born in another county or country . Suffolk , London , Ireland or Scotland .
Marriage in Upton gives him as "of this parish ", I agree he probably lived there but doubt he was born there . The closest I came to finding a Ben Hanton was Dickleborough 1794 , feasible , however that meant he had Christiana Tungate 7 months pregnant when he married her in Aug 1814 , their first son , also Ben, was born in Oct 1814 . that would make him 20 his bride 24 . However the 1841 and the 1851 shows 5 years difference in ages and Ben being the elder partner
I am so confused .

Hi
Have you actually looked at the parish registers for Upton? I see he gives his and his wifes place of birth there in 1851.

Thank you Rosie , but I bought the parish records for Upton (on fiche) many years ago .
I only asked as so many people nowadays look no further than their computer ;) Perhaps he was one of the many who didn't really know where he was born and just selected the same place as his wife.

Hi Rosie , that was my thoughts exactly . However I do think he was part of the family spelt Haunton, later Hanton ,who lived in Upton , now this family seem to have a break of about 4-5 years Francis 1781 , and then Samuel 1786when no children were born , previously every two years. I have to wonder did they move away to find work? .
The marriage of Ben and Christiana one of the witnesses was Samuel Hanton
AS ABOVE ???perhaps. THANK YOU

Hi Aldee,
Did you get anywhere with Ben Hanton?
I am looking for the parents of Ben Hanton b. circa 1791, father of Ben Hanton b. 1816 too. Really my interest lies in a William Hanton, who was my GG Grandmother's nephew, killed at Ypres in WW1. But then I found another William Hanton who was killed in WW2, who is a descendant of your Ben 1791, and I am trying to see if/where a family connection lies. Haven't found a link so far, but I am assuming that as they are all registered in the Blofield parish, there must be a link somewhere, but perhaps I wont be able to go back far enough.
What a wonderful photo! Is this Ben Hanton 1791? Do you know the history of it?
Thanks,
Karen

Thank you for your interest in the Hanton family . Ben Hanton c 1791 married Christiana Tungate in 1814 , their first son Benjamin was born two months later in Upton , William Hanton was born in 1818 in Halvergate , I have never bothered to try and find a reason for the 4 year gap ? . I also have only gone down the direct line of ancestry for example Ben 1791 , Ben 1814 , George 1849, Ben 1878 ,and Susan (my mother )1907 . My grandfather only had daughters and there the Hanton line finished .
The photo is of my darling grandfather Ben 1878 . He travelled to Co Durham and became a miner and married , settling in Stanley
