After 2 years of searching for references to my ancestor Dudley Hussey I finally found one in some House of Commons Papers.
- Only to be stumped by the location - Kildroghill?
I could only find 1 web-based reference to the place and it was not particularly informative. It alluded to a manor there requiring restoration in 1588.
Can anybody help?

There's a slightly later reference to the village/town in a Topographical dictionary of 1810. It sounds like it must have been a reasonable size as fairs are mentioned. There's no mention of the town in the Lewis directory of 1837 :
Kildroughall or Kildroghill, in the barony of _______ Co. of Kildare... The Fairs are
holden on the 28th of Apr, 8th Sept and 7th Nov
see : Kildroghill (http://books.google.ie/books?id=k9k-AAAAYAAJ&dq=Kildroghill&pg=PT418#v=onepage&q=Kildroghill&f=false) (google books)
The only placename in the area that I can think of that sounds similar would be maybe 'Kildrought', which is the civil parish that covers the area around the town of Celbridge. This also appears to be the old name for the town - possibly a corruption of the Irish name i.e. Cill Droichid ("church bridge")

Thanks Shane.
The place seems to have disappeared off the map since then!
