Am looking for info on Diver/Dever of Kildaragh. Great grandmom was Mary Diver (b 1866). She emig to US and married Maurice Duffy. Both died in US.
Parents were
1. Simon Diver (1835 - 1879), son of Cornelius Diver (1802 - 1867, possibly died in Ummerafad) and Nellie Ferry
2. Bridget Herraghty (1836 - in US after 1921), daughter of Michael Herraghty and Catherine McGinley. Sib was Edward
Simon and Bridget married circa 1860. Other children included Fanny, Michael, Patrick, Ellen, Thomas, Margaret.
Please forgive my spelling errors. The parents' names are pretty certain. Sibs to be confirmed/added to, depending on new info.
Thank you in advance for any insights!

Welcome to Rootschat.
Are you sure of the year Simon Diver died? PRONI (www.proni.gov.uk) has a Will Extract for a Simon Diver who died 1897 (not 1879)-
"Administration of the estate of Simon Diver late of Luniaghmore County Donegal Farmer who died 1 March 1897 granted at Londonderry to Charles Diver Farmer." Simon's death registeration gives his age as 80 so born c1817.
There are lots of other Divers listed (no Cornelius but 2 Neals, etc.)
The LDS website lists children of Simon Diver and Bridget Heraghty-
1. Michael born 7 Feb.1865 Dunfanaghy district, Donegal (page 74 in civil register)
2. Mary born 20 Aug.1866 Dunfanaghy district, Donegal (page 61 in civil register)
3. Margaret born 25 Nov.1872 Co.Donegal

It appears you and my father are second cousins. I would like to talk with you privately. Are you on ancestry.com? If so, what's your user name there? Are you Cornelius Francis' son or living daughter?

Connie was my father. I'm Tom 2nd son. Not on ancestry.com. I don't have much family info, only what uncle Hugh told me. Pop didn't say much.(Irish)ask for info and they won't talk, but will sing a song in a heart beat. My brother has all the family paper, but i never saw them. I'm not very computer friendly. So i don't know how to get in touch with you without breaking the site rules and getting kicked off.

Kinzer-
I know whereof you speak re: the Irish propensity for song, but not for personal history. After I posted before, I figured out how to, and did, send you a personal message (pm), with my private email address. As Annie wrote above that you have to have posted here 3x in order to SEND private messages ("pm"), I don't know if you have to have posted here 3x in order to RECEIVE personal messages. If you respond to this post, that will give you your 3 posts, in order to be able to have the option to send my your private email, so we can communicate directly. Alternatively, perhaps you could check your email or spam folder to see if you received a pm from me, through this web site?

To: Kinzer:
Any chance you had the name Dever still in the Philadelphia area as late as 1940? I'm trying to help a friend find her Dever ancestors. The only info she has is he, Peter, was born in 1938 and is listed as a foster child with a Donovan family in the 1940 census. She also seems to recall hearing he may have been with a Ginnelly family after that. I'm presuming this could be a misinterpretation of McGinley. She has no information as to whether the Ginnelly family may have adopted him.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Rosewood,
Never saw anyone named Peter in the family tree. My g grand mother was a McGinley. They may have been related. The Philadelphia area is full of Dever's and according my father none were related us.Sorry i couldn't help. Good luck in your search.
