Hi Wonder if anyone can help me with my search
Searching for Bridget McGough born in the 1840's Ireland
Bridget's Father was Patrick McGough also Born Ireland
Bridget married John Conlon 1868
St Chads RC Church
Warwickshire
the family seem to appear in Birmingham before she got married so Im not sure if they meet in Ireland or here in Brum its a Possibility they where from
Co Cork, Roscommon, Westmeath, or even Co Mayo?
I have really hit a brick wall in the fact that I can't find information on them
I just wish I know where in Ireland they where from
And to find out Bridget's Mothers Name would also help
Any infomation would be grand
Thanks
Joe

Unfortunately the first detail you need to know to begin a search for pre-civil registration records for your McGough family is where in Ireland they lived (i.e. town, townland or parish), so you can check what records, if any, exist for their parish.

The surname search in the Ancestors section of the Irish Times website suggests Louth, Monaghan and Mayo were the counties with most McGoughs in the years the Griffith's Valuation was taken, 1847-1864. A search on rootsireland.ie in those counties might be a place to start.

Just did a quick search on rootsireland for baptismal records for Bridget McGough with father Patrick in the 1840s. There were two in Monaghan, two in Meath and one in Westmeath. Rootsireland is a pay site. Five records would cost about €25 I think.
