Hi, I wonder if anyone can help (Sasha - please ...!). I'm looking for the birth of Mary Bellamy, born around 1791 in Crowle, her marriage to Thomas Gilyeart (also spelt Gilliatt, Gilyat and so many more) in c1815 and any children they may have. We already have Thomas Gilliat born in 1822.
Any help much appreciated.

Thanks Geoff-E. I've now found Mary but searched through freereg yesterday looking for the Gilyearts - with so many spellings it was impossible. I thought that perhaps with just the local register, things might look as if they follow a path.

OK, before I get back to the Gilyearts', this is a problem I've just encountered on freereg. I've found the baptism of Mary (May 1792) and it shows her parents as "Jno" and "Mary". I assumed that Jno was a mistype of John but when I search for a marriage for her parents there's no John only a Robert who married Mary Cocking in 1780 (I'm looking for a Mary) and Abraham who married Ann in 1777.
If someone could look up the microfiche, maybe it would be possible to decipher "Jno" and (with luck) be able to read it as Robert or the short form used then - Rbt? Rob?

Here's what I found on your family:
Mary Ann Bellamy, christened 27 May 1792 in Crowle. Parents John and Mary.
The couple could have been married just across the border in Yorkshire, as there's a marriage for a John Bellamy to Mary Coldthread, 13 June 1790 in Hatfield, Yorkshire.
Other christenings to the same couple in Crowle:
Mary Ann, 26 March 1791 (died in infancy?)
John, 28 May 1793
More christening occur later in Hatfield where they were married:
William Bellamy, born 30 December 1800, christened 29 March 1801
Isaac Bellamy, born 10 April 1804, christened 12 August 1804
The seven years gap suggests they lived elsewhere from 1793 to 1800.
There's a marriage for a Mary Bellamy to a Thomas Gileart, 18 May 1815 in Amcotts.
If you know where one of their children was born, just select the correct parish from the second link at the top and enter the surname. It'll give you all the christenings and you can see which ones are yours.

Good morning Emine. Ah, that's interesting finding John and Mary as I'd not been able to do that. We've got Mary and Thomas Gilyeart married in Belton - maybe the same parish as Amcotts? We've certainly got the 18th May 1815 so it probably fits.
We too had found two Marys and concluded that one died in infancy. They had a Thomas born in Yaddlethorpe in 1882 which is our direct line. Even on his marriage certificate to Elizabeth Jackson his name was spelt a Gilliatt. No wonder it's confusing!
We'll look at the links you've kindly given me and try to fill in some gaps.

Interesting, as Amcotts wasn't a parish at that time, just a chapelry of Althorpe. My index has the marriage taking place in Belton ???
