Hi all, I have just recently received a bible which was given as 6th prize for attendance and good conduct of the Gargrave Parish Church Sunday School. In it are two photo's which I will upload.
I am hoping that posting the subject here might develop local interest and of course anyone searching Maggie Foulds of Gargrave on the WWW will get pointed here. If anyone has information that might lead to the reuniting of this bible with its family send me a PM.
Many thanks

The second photo might be Aireville House which is now a school in Skipton, unless locals can say for certain which large house it might be. The photo is well past its best.

As A matter of Interest?
There was a Margaret Clapham Foulds b1888 in Gargrave.and living in Gargrave 1901/1911 so this could have been her bible.I cant seem to find a marrage for her though?

Hi CME, thanks for that.
I also found a Margaret C Foulds on the 1901 census in Gargrave and wondered if she is one and the same as Maggie. There was a marriage registered at Skipton in Q3 of 1920 between a Margaret C Foulds and a James W Bowell. There is also a reg of death at Skipton (Staincliffe) for a Margaret C Bowell in Q1 of 1965. I had hoped that a quick search of the electoral roll would bring up a Bowell in the locality, but thus far without success.
Who knows who or what might turn with a bit of time. Oh, I also managed to work out that the vicar at the time was A V Magee, he was there from 1896 - 1906. Not that it helps any, but it clarified the name on the Sunday School award certificate in the front of the bible, I's dotted and T's crossed so to speak.
Many thanks

By the way, there was a death registration for James W Bowell in 1927 at Burnley. Whether it was her man or not I do not know. If she did die in 1965 as Mrs Bowell, she must never have remarried.

Regarding the picture. It looks like Aireville Grange which became a secondary school in the 1950's. For comparison there are some pictures on The Rowley Collection (pictures of old Skipton) If you search for it and then search the site for 'Aireville'. It should come up. Would it be possible for some on to re-post the picture to the Photo's board for a 'clean up'?

Thanks westsmith, I have placed a link to this subject in the photo restoration section. Hopefully we will start to see some repairs popping up in a few hours time.
Thank you all

Kalgoorlie is a place in Western Australia where they had a bit of a gold rush at the beginning of the C20th. Have a look on Wikipedia.

More than two years since I posted this and nothing new has come to light. I'm bouncing it up to see if anything happens as a result.
