Hi all
Does anyone know if it's at all possible to work out where "common ground" would have been in this cemetery?
I've discovered a rellie buried there and although we know we can't put a stone or anything we'd like to go and lay flowers 'somewhere'.
Thanks

Hi Julie,
Have a look at this thread: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,495487.0.html
There's various aerial views of the cemetery and there's at least 2 Common Ground areas marked.

Brilliant thanks.

Julie,
Do you know if it was Dalbeth or St Peter's your relations were buried in?
If you look at the photo's on the thread Anne posted you will see that the common ground within St Peter's is indicated with a C. In the Older Dalbeth part the common ground is the area at the side of the house nearest the roadside.

Hi Gerry
I am not sure, I think it was St Peter's as it said at the top of the page "St Peter's Cemetery Dalbet. I got the record from Scotland's People from the Catholic records. He was buried in 1938.
Thanks

Julie,
He is in common ground in the newer part St Peter's then which is the one Anne shows in her picture.

That's great to know Gerry, thank you so much.
We've waited a very long time to know where he is and it'll be a great comfort to my Granny to be able to go to where he is.
Thanks

I have a family member Catherine Kelly died January 1932. The location in Dalbeth is 4829 Lair 1076 section 15 Division W. Does anyone have any idea where in this cemetry I could find section 15.

Hi terregles,
If you go to this thread: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,495487.0.html
Then scroll down until you come to the aerial view of St. Peters with the sections marked.
Section 15 is quite big, but if you systematically walk along the rows and look for small numbers inscribed (usually on the base somewhere), with a bit of luck you'll be able to work out the location of Lair 1076.
Even if there isn't a stone, hopefully you'll at least be able to narrow down your search to a certain part of a particular row.

Should have said ......
'4829' will probably be a Receipt Number and 'W' indicates the West side of the cemetery, so the only info you'll really need is Section 15, Lair 1076.

Anne or Gerry,
I'm now intrigued about the comment that there is older Common Ground 'the area at the side of the house nearest the roadside.'
My relative was buried in 1896, the burial record is headed "St Peter's Cemetery Dalbeth" and am now not sure if this would be the areas's marked 'c' in Anne's photos or this other area at the side of the house?
Thanks in advance.
