There is a marriage recorded in the registry at : St Philip & Jacob, Bristol, Glouc. in 1830 between a James Andrews and Sarah Kittelty. John Andrews who was born in 1831 left for North America in 1850. He is my 2nd great grandfather and his mother's surname is nearly illegible on his death certificate. I believe it to be Sarah Kittelty. It's a rather unusual name, I suspect and oral history has it her family is of Scottish descent.
I was hoping to connect to any researchers who have a Kittelty in their family tree from the Wiltshire area to see if they've any knowledge of an Andrews/Kittelty connection. I know John, who died in 1910 still had a brother living in England. Thank you.

Our Australian & New Zealand Kittelty family has been traced to Scotland areas of
Perth, Perthshire, Aberdeen during time frame of 1813 -1833
as our family settled as free immigrants in 1833 to Hobart, Tasmania.

Welcome to Rootschat.
I’m not so sure about the Scottish connection. Looking at the records on Scotland People, no Kittelty births, marriages deaths pre Statutory Registration in 1855 or census returns, I note on the marriage record both James & Sarah signed X, so the record was written as spoken.
These are the nearest records on https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.
KITELY 1832 one birth/baptism + 2 marriages same spelling 1845/1847
8-KITELEY /KITTEY /KITTY / on 1841 census. These spellings appear on registrations post 1855.
Within the period 1780 to 1815 there are a number of baptisms in England with the above spelling.
The surname Kitley belongs to the large category of Anglo-Saxon habitation names, which are derived from pre-existing names for towns, villages, parishes, or farmsteads.
I could only see one baptism on Ancestry, father noted as a labourer.

? Where are James ANDREWS and his Wife on the 1841/1851 census (i.e 1841 would say Born in County with a tick or S for Scotland, I for Ireland) and did they have children after 1837 - (to check the GRO Index for how the Mother's maiden name is spelt)
? Any witnesses to the wedding

Just looking at the Forest of Dean Forum - which has Gloucestershire Marriage Allegations 1747-1837 and Marriage Bonds 1730 - 1823

There are some 'near' variations of the surname KITTELEY including
Mary KEYTLEY - residence: Campden - 1781
---
Also on the Parish Records - same website various spelling way back to Margaret KETTLEY - 1593 in Deerhurst
