Title: JONES and JEFFERIES
Post by: vlrowland on Friday 25 March 11 23:55 GMT (UK)
I have been told that my two male lines from my grandfather's was Scotch-Irish. I am trying to find their lines back to Northern Ireland.

Hi vlrowland,

Welcome to Rootschat.  Hope that you enjoy this site as much as we all do.
Good luck with your research.

Thanks Rabbit B. I don't see many researchers from the U.S. yet, so I wonder if I'm a lone searcher.

Moderator Comment:  split off from another topic for better "visibilty" :)

Well most of my family went to the USA, there are a lot of nice people in RootsChat from across the pond. No doubt you will find them eventually.  Give it time.

Start by working though the beginners pages, they are a huge help.
Loads of info on there too.

I guess this is the right way to keep posting. Let me know if it is not?

I would also like more information on one of my English lines. I have traced my Jones line back to Richard Jones b. about 1608 and Anne Jefferies and the Manor of Ley, in Devonshire. I discovered most of my genealogy information online under my grandmother Anne Jeffries name.

I have not found anymore information on them in England. There was a bookstore owner in London named Richard Jones who invested with others in theater productions where Shakespeare put on his plays. I do not know if the Richard Jones is related to my Jones or is my Jones. I wonder if he is? Also, I read that Richard Jones' family did railroad work. I wonder if that is true and if that was my family occupation before coming to America?
