Hello!
I am looking for any information on my family from Whiltshire. My nan's parents were Frederick and Ethelwyn (nee Long) Hobbs. They were married in 1922 and had one child together (Joyce Minnie), however he already had a child with his wife (unkonwn) who had previously died. Her name was Phillis.
Elsewhere on this forum I have been informed about Ethelwyn in the 1901 census : -
1901 Census
RG13 / 1935 / 47 / 6
57 Wooley Terrace, Bradford upon Avon
Lewis Edgar Long / head / 31 / Forman Stonemason / b. Bradford, Wilts
Alice Amelia / wife / 33 / b. Putney, London
Ethelwynne Mable / dau / 4 / b. Bradford, Wilts
Doris Minnie / dau / 11 mths / b. Bradford, wilts
Any more information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

The family are definately not from Swindon, so the seconds lot of details can not be my family. However Coppice Hill rings a bell, I'm sure my nan spoke about that address. Thank you so much. Just out of interest can you tell me what website/search you use as I have recently joined a popular one that you pay for (lol! not sure if I'm allowed to name it on here!) and have not found any of this.

That's interesting. So Booth could be his first wife? Any idea when she died?

Might be just me being silly, but how are the 1891 Hobbs and the 1901 Hobbs linked? I can't seem to work it out?

They are the same family. They seem to alternate their Christian names!!
Can you not see any similarities?

Julia, this looks like the birth for your Mr Finnis
George A Finnis
April-June 1915 / St. Olave Southwark
Vol No: 1d / Page No: 431
Mother Maiden Name: Dewhurst
Does this ring any bells!!!!!
Madri

I think he was from London, are there any census' that show his move from their to Kent?
x
-
Probable parents marriage.
Philip C Finnis / Constance Dewhurst
Sept 1916 / Edmonton
Vol No: 3a / Page No: 1174
He won't show up on a Census because he was born after 1911. You need to know who his parents are. I will check 1901 Census for his parents
Madri
-
Oooh! That looks promising. I looked on Google maps as we thought George was from Bermondsey. Turns out Edmonton is just up the road. Looks good

Hi
I am researching my family tree and I was delighted to come across your post on this web-site. You were asking about details for Frederick Hobbs... As you will have found out, he is the oldest brother with seven other sibblings. My grandmother was his youngest sister, Bessie Hobbs, born 17.08.1904 and she married William Jack Andrews on 14.04.1928. I would love to get in touch and and share a bit more information about the family and Bessie's daughter, my Mum, would be thrilled beyond description :)
Best wishes,
Andy
