They waited till the Jan-Mar quarter of 1897 to register his birth:-

Births Mar 1897

Dupoy  Christopher    St. Olave  1d 304

Elusive on the census after his birth  :(

Do you have James T Dupoy's occupation as shown on Christophers Marriage Papers?

Ah, by cross-referencing with the 1911 Free Index (where they are Dupry), I believe this is them in the 1901 census. James is using his 2nd forename of Thomas - does his occupation match your info?

1901 census of Rotherhithe, St Olave, Southwark - RG13/Piece 399 Folio 83 Page 30 @ 6, Littlington Street.

Thomas Du?b?ois 46 (matches age at 1918 death) born Marylebone: a Horsekeeper & Groom
Eliza Dubois 36 Wife born Berkshire, Reading
?Walter? Dubois 18 son born Kent, Dover: a Carman
Mary A Dubois 19 dau born Ireland
Georgina Dubois 16 dau Canterbury
John Dubois 12 son London, Battersea
Matilda Dubois 10 dau London, Borough
Lydia Dubois 8 dau Rotherhithe
Christopher Dubois 5 son ditto
Frederick Dubois 1 son ditto

Arthur Bodtin 46 Lodger / Boarder
Sarah Linford 52 ditto

From the kids PoBs, I wonder if James Thomas was an old soldier?

Given the oldest lad's PoB being Dover - this might be James/Thomas and Elizas Marriage?

Marriages Dec 1881

Dupoy  James    Dover  2a 1730
FOWLER  John Henry     Dover  2a 1730
SIMPSON  Annie Stone     Dover  2a 1730
Westall  Eliza     Dover  2a 1730

Wonder what's occuring here!   :)

1891 census of Bermondsey, Leather Market - RG12/Piece 370 Folio 138 Page 31 @ 28, Porlock Place

James Smith 30 Head of Household born Marylebone: a Carman
Eliza Smith 26 Wife born [Berks], Reading
Walter Smith 9 son born Dover
Mary A Smith 8 dau born Ireland
Georgina Smith 6 dau Canterbury
John Smith 3 son born London, Battersea

Births Sep 1882

Dupoy  Walter James    Dover  2a 981

Births Sep 1885

Dupoy Georgina    Canterbury  2a 791

so, altho they married and registered their kids as Dupoy, they dont make it easy on the Census!

Just before he married Eliza - James is indeed a soldier, in Barracks in the Dover, Hougham District.

RG11/Piece 1007 Folio 60 Page 11 - @ Western Heights West District Dover

James Dupoy born c1851, Westminster London - Soldier Infantry (1 / 3rd Foot - The Buffs (Regiment) )

so this is probably him, but PETER ??

Births Jun 1854

DUPOY  James Peter    Marylebone  1a 472

William Dupoy 40 Head of Household born Westminster St Margaret: a Painter
Mary A Dupoy 35 Wife born Norfolk, Norwich
William Dupoy 11 son born Marylebone
James Dupoy 6 son ditto
Mary Ann Dupoy 4 dau ditto

  Hello .....

Anything you need on the Liscoe line I have in my files as I am  Liscoe   or was till I married ;D

William Henry parents were both Liscoe on marriage.
William the father was the son of George Welstead ( Wilstead on some doc's) Liscoe(b 1787) who was my 4x great grandfatherand Mary Bargrove
Elizabeth was the daughter of Charles Pullen Liscoe (b1795)and Elizabeth Flower Oldridge .
George & Charles were brothers both sons of Samuel Liscoe and his first wife Mary Easton. Samuel was the wharfinger at Hays wharf opposite the Tower of London.
So we must be related there then?

Hi all,

Ive just started to do my own family tree, and have discovered that my paternal Nan may well have been born a Dupoy and as far as I can make out her mother was a Liscoe,    I do not know my paternal Nan's middle name just that a Joyce M Dupoy married my paternal Grandfather in 1939 and that my Nan's first name was Joyce

If as I suspect, this Joyce M Dupoy is my paternal Nan she was born in 1922 in St. Olave, what I do know is that my Nan did have two sisters, Edna and Elsie, who  like my Nan are now deceased too....does this info match with anyone's known knowledge on the Dupoy or Liscoe family trees....as I just need to see if im heading in the right direction on this side of my family tree.

Unfortunately I lost my father a few years back so im somewhat in the dark on his side of my family tree,

Thanks

Tina

Hi Tina

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

According to their profile, theone hasn't been online here since 14th April and hasn't replied on this topic so we don't know if this informtion was helpful.

When did your grandmother pass away? If it was in England & Wales after 1969 the death index will have her middle name. Maybe we can find out what M stands for.

Hi Dawn,

thank you for your replies.  My Nan, if I remember correctly passed away in 2003 give a year or two, so I shall have a look on freebmd.  My Nan was living in Bershire, England,  so with this info hopefully I may be able to confirm her middle name, it will certainly help to further my quest to confirm this Joyce M Dupoy is either my Nan or not.

Thank you again

Tina

Hi Tina

Freebmd is a volunteer project and they haven't transcribed recent records yet. To find more upto date events you have to use subscription sites.

I found this

Death registered May 1995 at Bracknell

Joyce Maud Marshall

born 25 Nov 1922

Could this be your nan?

Hi Dawn,

Thank you again, yes I believe this is my Nan, I know she lived in Bracknell, and that her birthday was 25th November so that does seem to fit,  so her middle name was Maud, thus tying her into the Joyce M Dupoy, I guess I can safely assume she is of the Liscoe/Dupoy family, and that Im looking in the right direction.  Thank you again for all your help Dawn
