Title: Can I do this?
Post by: gh03 on Wednesday 23 March 11 20:16 GMT (UK)
I am searching for a grave for a baby that I believe was buried in a coffin with an unrelated adult in or around Little Hulton/Walkden/Bolton.  All my enquiries have drawn a blank. I know who the undertakers were but as it was 1960 they no longer have records.   I also have a pretty good idea of which week in 1960 it would have been. Is it possible to search for all burials that took place that particular week so that I can then check each female burial to see if the baby was placed in that coffin and if so, how would I go about it? I know if this is possible it could be a very long process.  I was thinking maybe checking obituaries? I know very little about searching family history so would appreciate any help.

Thank you

have you  looked at the cemetery records yet?

Go to the biggest local cemeteries in the area nearest to the funeral director, and ask the admin office for that cemetery to look up thier register or ledger around the time of the death or burial.  They do keep a register, because they need to know  what bodies are in each plot.

Yes I have checked all the local cemeteries. I am wondering if it was a church graveyard burial now. It's very confusing because I have found other stillborn babies listed who were born around the same time and same hospital but not this one.
