My Gt Gt Granddad was born in Llandyfodwg Glamorganshire South Wales. I've also seen Ystradyfodwg, which looks very similar in spelling. Can anyone tell me if they are one and the same place?
Also what would be the local parish for Llandyfodwg and where would the records be held? I have another big hill to climb as the surname I'm trying to research is WILLIAMS!
Any help with this area or sites to visit would be very much appreciated.
Thanx
Carol

Llandyfodwg is a parish in the Bridgend area.
Ystradyfodwg is in the Rhondda valleys.

Records for Llandyfodwg parish probably held in Glamorgan Record Office, Cardiff
PS. I also got some Williams surnames along with Jones and Evans - I know the difficulties!!!! :)

Thank you for both pieces of information, thats really useful. At least I know what area I'm now to look in.
Good luck yourself in finding your welsh needles!!
