Searching for WILLIAM RIVERS only information I have is he was born somewhere in England 1836 - was a "Northerner" during the Civil War - possibly went to the Colorado Gold Fields after CW. I have found a number of WM. RIVERS in the Union Civil War records, just cannot determine which is he. I've also found him in Colorado Census at Big Thompson and on a wagon train from Colorado to Washington Territory. I have found him in Idaho where he married and died. Need to know when and where he emigrated, possibly around 1850-1865, arrival and departure, just don't know where else to look.
Appreciatively,
Betty in Washington State

Hi b.marker
Have you been able to find any military records from the Civil War with dates or places or anything?
try NARA ( please Google - forgot the address - sorry! ) maybe his records could give you a better idea of where to start looking - plus they might have Gold mining info too - I live in Colo if you find anything that needs to be looked up whatever - please let me know - you can check on line - of course the main office is in Washington not Washington State - but see if they have an office close to you for research
This is a good site to start with regarding emigration ships from England etc.
