Title: Church for Glennakeel
Post by: RowanUK on Tuesday 22 March 11 15:05 GMT (UK)
Can anyone tell me what and where the RC church was that would've covered Glennakeel? I've just found out my ancestors were from there and not Ballydesmond as I had thought.

Would it be Newmarket or Meelin?

Thanks

The RC parish for the townlands of Glennakeel (North, South & West) would be Newmarket, and the civil parish is Clonfert.

see :  Newmarket RC Parish (http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/rcparishmaps/index.cfm?fuseaction=showidrecords&CityCounty=Cork%20North-West&parish=Newmarket&churchid=86)  (Irish Times)
and :  townlands in Clonfert Civil parish (http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/townlands/index.cfm?fuseaction=TownlandsInCivil&civilparishid=146&civilparish=Clonfert&citycounty=Cork)

Thanks for that I thought it would probably be Newmarket. Looks like my research is about to move a bit further to the east of Cork ;D

Hi Sam,

I'd be grateful if you could contact me. I saw on Ancestry Boards that you had a Jane Patterson family tree with an Elexander Williamson Hayes attached. I'm trying to confirm that his father was Arthur Williamson Hayes, from Limerick, Ireland (and formerly husband of Mary Hayes).

Looking forward to hearing from you.
