Can any one help me with advice.
My Great-aunt Elizabeth Isabella Arnison was born in Texas on 06 June 1889. Don't know where abouts, although the family story is that she was born in the back of a wagon in a wagon train. Whether that's true, I have no idea.
The family were living out there for a few years in the 1880s
Where do I go for more information, such as the registration of the birth or any census that may have taken place whilst the family was there. In other words - anything more than nothing!
Regards

Hello Forest Fairy,
The 1890 US Census was almost entirley destroyed by fire so the family would'nt have been recorded on any Census during there short stay. Can't see an Elizabeth Arnison listed, BMD Records currently available for Texas 1840 - 1981, (could be worth trying other spelling variants though) Really you need to know which County she was born in.

If you could tell us her parents' names, please, as there's a very slight chance that we might find information about them?

Hello Lisa,
From the UK Census record for 1901, it looks as if the Mother Elizabeth born 1861 Pembroke. Herefordshire had remarried to a William Eley. The family are living in Cheltenham. Gloucestershire again in 1901.
Elizabeth Isabella Arnison had 2 other Arnison sibling, a brother called Joseph W Arnison aged 16 years born Newcastle. Nothumberland England (1885) Ralph N Arnison aged 15 years born Newcastle. Northumberland England (1886) and Charles M Arnison 8 years Newcastle. Northumberland England (1893)
The family must have been in the USA sometime between 1886 and 1893 when Charles was born in the UK. Did not find a suitable death entry for a husband Arnison.

Thank you for the added information, Sandra. ;D

Thanks, Sandra ;D
Image is difficult to read:
City of Chester sailing from Liverpool, England and Queenstown, Ireland arriving 16 June 1888, New York
Eliz? "Annison", age 29, Wife
Joseph?, age 3 or 5, Child
Ralph V or N, age 2, Child
Destination was ? New Mexico
It looks like the person listed above Eliz was also going to New Mexico, but maybe it was written incorrectly?
Name was ? Ann Williams?, age 16, Servant. She was travelling with Rev. C J P Williams and ? Jane Williams. It looks like they were not going to New Mexico.
Perhaps someone else may be able to read/figure it out?
