I'm hoping someone could help me with a marriage lookup or even Birth ;D I've checked many Irish resources but my Irish roots are a fairly new discovery so i'm not sure i'm researching where i should be. I've tried the Griffiths Valuation, familysearch and a couple of others i cant recall but my main problem is the different spellings of the name....
Well here is what i have and known to be accurate (ish)!!
Michael LINAHAN (I've lost count how many variations of the name i've discovered) married Mary Both of Dungarvan, Co Waterford
Michael b. abt 1841 Mary b. abt 1844
They had atleast 4 children who were born in Dungarvan
David b.1865
Statia (i assume this is short for Annastatia) b.1867
Kate b. 1870
Minnie b. 1872
They had three more children but they were born in Wales. But this is where it gets interesting...Sometime during the 1880's they ALL changed their name to LEONARD??
It has been Leonard ever since, so now i'm not entirely convinced their name was Linahan (sp) to begin with. However they are on the Wales 1881 census as Linahan. Why would they change their name? And how am i suposed to find them.
Please, plaese, please any help or tips greatly appreciated as i'm at a loss.
PS..apologies if i'm not making any sense, its been a long day infront of the pc

Full civil registration started in 1864 so if the marriage of Michael and Mary took place after this then there should be a record of thier marriage in civil records. Non-Catholic marriages were registered from 1845.
see : Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html)
Do you already have birth records for the children ?

There's just one Anastasia Linihan birth listed around the right time in the BMD Index in the Dungarvan area, but the mother's maiden surname is Whelan ...
Name: Annistasia Linehan
Birth date: 08 Jul 1866
birthplace: Dungarvan, Waterford (registration district)
Ref. : 0681
Parents : Michael Linehan & Mary Whelan
here's the corresponding full index record :
Name: Annistasia Linehan
Registration district: Dungarvan
Event type: Birth
Quarter and year: 1866
Volume number: 14 / Page : 681

there are several other children listed in the extracted civil records for this couple (Michael Linehan & Mary Whelan), but no sign of any of the other children's names you mentioned - see : Linehan/Whelan search (https://www.familysearch.org/search/search/index/record-search-advanced#searchType=records&fed=true&collectionId=1584963&advanced=true&givenName=&surname=Linehan&eventType=any&eventLocation=&eventYearFrom=1864&eventYearTo=1872&relationship=parents&fatherFirst=&fatherLast=&motherFirst=&motherLast=whelan&filtered=true)
I dont see any results for a Lenihan Both/Booth search.

Maybe they changed their name for work purposes? A lot of the irish changed their name to more local sounding names when in wales, as they found it difficult to obtain work.

I read the OP's post as "both of Dungarven" rather than Mary's surname being Both.

interesting! I read the capital B as being a surname .. maybe a mistranscription of Booth
maybe ciaobella can clarify
