I am looking for more info on a edward Loftus born in Dublin 1892 to Edward Loftus and Mary Dalton. Mary must have died - as father Ed is a widower in 1901 census but no trace of son in census.

i can get the son edward in 1911 census in keady working as a tailor he went on to marry a theresa Farell. but he was a soldier at Portabello Barracks in 1915 - how do i get more info on his time in barracks??

Many of the WW1 era military records have been destroyed but many of those that are available are in the National Archives in Kew (London). Some are available on pay-websites like FindMyPast, Ancestry etc

Someone over on the Armed Forces section of Rootschat may be able to give some advice on where to search next.. see Armed Forces (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,300.0.html)
