Hi
I am at a complete loss on to how to search for a death.
I have been told by a distant relative that my Gran's brother George Jackson who emigrated to Australia in 1958 (I have the passenger list) born 15 August 1922 Durham was cremated Mattiske Cremations in Salisbury South Australia 10 March 1977 (they are almost sure it is him).
Are there any indexes on line please that I can look at?
Thank you

Try this index: http://www.australiancemeteries.com/sa/index.htm
There's a Reginald George Jackson "buried"at the Salisbury Cemetery. Unfortunately I cannot find a year but if this man is your great uncle then at least you can contact the cemetery for further details. All the best!

Hi Evie,
The SAGHS have a lookup service (for a fee) of the newspaper death notices. The details are on their website.
http://www.saghs.org.au/tools.htm
The online data base for deaths and burials is showing a George Henry Jackson in 1977.
Hope this can help

Hi Earlybird and Robyn
Thank you both for your replies it is good of you to help. Unfortunatey my great uncle was just plain old George.
However they are very helpful links which I can refer to should the need arise. I did notice there was a newspaper report for a George Jackson 1977 but as he is not a priority in as far as spending money on I will wait for the moment.
Many thanks again for your time

Just an update and thank you once again for the help on this thread.
I did ask the Library for a look up and they very kindly sent me two newspaper cutting copies on the death announcement and acknowledgement of my George who did die on the 10th March 1977. I am just waiting for confirmation on an address from another relative who knew more about his whereabouts than i did but am almost 100% certain it is him.
