Hiya, Im not sure which Catherine we are talking about , there was a few with the same name. Who was
your Catherine married to?  William McKay was married to Mary Wilson but Williams father was Angus.
Although there are a few Williams too in the family.

The Catherine McKay who married George Gordon  in 1901was the daughter of
David McKay and Jane Logie.  and the Catherine McKay who married James Smith
in 1867 was the daughter of William McKay and Mary Wilson, does that help.

Post by: Roecoyle on Monday 21 March 11 01:17 GMT (UK)
No i just had them down to Catherine md george Gordon 1901
Catherine died in 1916.
I think i might have a bunch of papers some place with some
possible births for Catherine? but i`m not sure ,so many ifs.
when i get time i`ll go through them and see if i can find anything
else directly related to her.
What year was Alex McGee born,

No sorry thats as far back as ive been able to get so far, but there are many ,many
branches to this tree as you have prob realised. I have a lot of info on the branches,
i keep branching out all over the place lol. I don`t recall the name McGee but it is most
probable that McGee was Alex fathers surname as was often the case if the mother
was unmarried. Its not a name within the family that i have found so far.

I have some McKay/Mackay ancestors I'd like to trace. I don't have much information on them though..

Hugh Mackay was born about 1760 and married Margaret ? They lived in Durness, Sutherland and had six sons.
John was born about 1807 and married Janet Gardiner. He was killed on the North West Frontier around 1840-2.
George was born in 1809 and married Anne Munro. He died in Australia in 1868.
Louis went to North America and we nothing else about him.
Don't know anything about the other three brothers.

I would appreciate a note if you come across them in your searches.  :)
